When I was in Jr. and High School(85-90). I hated this stuff. I was all about Metal. Now that I'm older, I just cannot get into metal anymore. I listen to stuff I thought was the greatest shit when I was young, and I get tired of it within minutes.
I have really taken a liking to New Wave music from the 80's. Lots of cool grooves and beats. I know it won't be popular on a Heavy Metal Guitar centered board. I guess to me a lot of that is new music as I didn't listen to it back then.
We were in the same grades during the 80's ('90 graduate) and I hated that type of music back then. But man I really dig that stuff now. Here's one of my favorites... Early 80's synth pop.
They were probably a tad bit gay and English, too.

LMAO, I was just listening to "Upstairs at Eric's". Been humming that damn chorus to Situation all day.
Let me confess if it was on a Soundtrack to a movie directed by some guy named John Hughes, Im probably digging it. I will not name movies, as this is my Shame.
Come and get one in the yarbles, if you have any yarbles, you yunick jelly thou!

LOL... no comment. I know what you mean, but again... no comment.
Yeah those tunes bring back alot of good memories from the 80's (I'm 44), MTV was pretty cool, the bands put alot of effort into videos and some were very good,
Of course some look a little dated!(great tune though):
I thought the Robert Palmer Addicted to Love video was amazing with the sexy mimes. Also l still like the Power Station (Duran Duran / Palmer) cover of Bang a Gong, and Some Like It Hot.
Anybody remember Yazoo (Alison Moyet)? Great voice. I think she could've been a superstar, but she was a heavy girl and it was all about video by then.
There was a strange, short slice of time that a radio station
called WUWU broadcast from near Buffalo, NY. It was my first
deep look into the world of "new wave/modern/pop" that wasn't quite
yet flooding top forty radio.
To quote about the strange station:
"And that brings us to Wethersfield, a little bump in the road (state route 78, to be precise) in Wyoming County, halfway between Buffalo and Rochester if you're going a bit out of the way. WBIV was sold in 1982 to "Stereo Seven Associates", and thus began one of the strangest chapters in Western New York radio. Renamed WUWU, the station moved into a storefront in a strip mall in East Aurora and began giving the region a belated dose of the progressive rock FM revolution. Announcing its presence with a day-long loop of "Papa Oom Mow Mow," WUWU settled down for two years of anything-goes rock programming that drew little in the way of ratings and revenue, but plenty in the way of audience devotion in both Buffalo and Rochester, thanks to a signal that reached well into both cities, another tribute to the excellent engineering choices made way back in 1947."
I fell in love with bands like Saga, Soft Cell, and countless others while still playing what is old heavy metal with my bandmates.

Read up about 5 post from yours.
I wonder why they used both Yazoo and Yaz as their name. Up until a few days ago, I always thought the singer was a black girl. I was kinda suprised to see she as a big ole white girl.

How'd I miss that? I think my wife has some of her solo stuff on cassette, but I'm not sure if we even still have a cassette player stashed somewhere...
Haaaaaalp! I've been watching these 80's synth videos, and now I have Careless Whispers by George Michael in my head. I'm not joking. Haaaaaaaalp!!!
