Just wondering if you guys wanted to share some tips on this. I can never get one side to match the other or find any websites that have tips and/or ideas on facial hair styles.

...maybe you're searching for the wrong word?
Sorry, had to say it before Ron did
Matching up sideburns takes practice. Depending on how long they are (Elvis vs Ace) you can line them up with your jaw or your ear (lobe, center, etc - pick a reference point).
Match your Moustache to your lip edges. Don't move your lips around, and spend some time in front of the mirror making sure your lips are symmetrical. Some people have a tendancy to keep a permanent snarl (even a slight one) and that throws off the angle when lining up a 'stache.
Same for a goatee or beard - line it up with your bottom lip, not your chin (because your chin may be slightly crooked).
The hardest part is switching hands.
Then again, you don't have to have perfect symmetry, just so long as it doesn't look like it was done by 2 different blind barbersI want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood

I shave my head and do that in the shower... I sport a goatee as well.
About a month ago, I was in a hurry, so by feel I shaved my face in the shower too. When I got to work, I took a trip to the head and saw that I'd gotten too close on one side and had this giant reversed C on my face.
That was the last time I shaved w/out a mirror.

I shave my head in the shower by feel too, and always got pretty good/close to my goatee/stache... A little drunk or hungover + being hurry would equal an issue... But not too often.
New job equals no Goatee. Too imposing too our "customers". Fuckers... They stick us in polyester friggin pants to wrestle with these freaks, and a goatee is "too imposing". wtf...

what the trick on side burns is that you dont gauge off the ears. most people ears are not level with each other, so the burn are not even when you look straight ahead. what you do is take your index fingers and place them at the bottom of the burns (as if you are sticking your fingers in your ears). look in the mirror and see if your fingers are level. adjust as needed....that taste like tart, lemon yogart
