  • my uncle sully

some of you have heard me talk about my uncle sully, who was like the older brother i never had (when i really needed one). he's a really big hearted guy who's funny as hell, and introduced me the the magic that is social distortion. he's also director of white house communications. yes, that white house.

anyway, a local chicago newspaper called the daily herald just ran an article about him that really made me smile. my uncle sully rules, and i was really proud to see such a nice article written about him. so much so that i thought i'd share it with you:

Thank you so much for Eric Peterson’s story, “Left without a home.” The story broke my heart and gave me continued empathy for those who just need a little extra “hand up” and not a “hand...

That was a very cool article but to be honest with you I would like to get to know you better since we have similar interest. I know on another thread I ask about your star guitar project. What ever happened with that?
          Just one more guitar!

Sully, I don't know whats more impressive, his job or the fact he can remember stats of the Chicago White Sox the way he does. I can barely remember my name.-Lou

Uh oh, Sully - look out

If you'll check that other thread, you'll see where Sully said it was built for someone else, which means he doesn't have it.

I personally do not care how it was built as long as it is a good playing/sounding instrument.

He seems like a great, down-to-earth guy with a strong connection to his roots. Even from that small article, I can see he's a cool dude.

And what I've personally seen of communications directors and high-level political positions in general would agree with how he's barely got any time for a life outside of work. Hopefully after his WH stint is over, he'll find an opportunity to "downshift" his lifestyle a bit.
