It's all about the music. I don't care about their image or fashion statements.
Well said. Just a matter of substance over style , fashion, image etc.

Not for me. I was always a way bigger Dokken fan than Ratt. I love Don's voice, and he sounds just like Klaus Meine from the Scorpions. The Scorpions even had Don fill in for him for a brief period when he had some kind of health problems or something.

Anyway, I liked Ratt, too, but I think Stephen Pearcy's voice kinda sucked. Hell, I was also a Motley Crue fan, but Vince Neil also sounds like shit. Don's got a better voice than both of them.

Same here. Wearing makeup and flashy outfits doesn't make you a better player. Just be comfortable and put on great show.

            • I don't think music can be popular without appealing to the lowest denominator/casual fans. I've pretty much accepted that only on rare occasions will a decent band get mainstream attention anymore. Generally speaking, all commercial music of all genres suck to me.

better is relative, Don definetly has better range and controll than the other dudes you mentioned, and he isn't a bad singer but sucks for heavy rock music... Vince sounds like a pig :ROTF: but early Motley was pure gold, they were naive and agressive and destroyed everything that Dokken did.

Marc Slaughter has a huge range, John Lee Hooker didn't had any range... guess who is more respected singer and musician

                  • Dang no love for Vince Neil? I think he's great. Plus, I'm sure he would have won that fight with Axl Rose.

That's why I refer to myself as an "old metal" fan.
Come on, bro! Even Cherry Pie takes talent to play! Big hair got replaced by dirty hair, no talent requirements and shitty gear.

I fucking love Vince, and yes he would fucking kill Axl, there's no comparison, Vince grew up in Compton fighting with some bad motherfuckers.

                        • You are correct, Don actually did some of the vocals on the Blackout album while Klaus was recovering from throat surgery, and it sounded awesome. +1 on Pearcy.
