Dean Markley Sig 9-42. I noticed that over my last 4 years of playing, I've only had maybe a handful of strings break, trem or not. I seem to wear down frets faster. Anybody else?

            I like boomers.
I believe somewhere he said one company makes GHS/a'Addario/Dean Markley. I would bet Elixirs fall under that umbrella as well as they just remind me of strings by those companies. DR and Ernie Ball are independent as far as I know. Fender makes Martin strings (both are MIM which leads me to believe Fender makes their strings along with the Mexican Martin Back Packers). Not sure on Gibson, Cleartone, Rotosound, or Snake Oil.

I started with Boomer 10's, went to Boomer 9's. I don't remember why I stopped using them. I then switched to Fender bullets but they don't work in Kahlers which is what is on my Bich.

              I've stuck with Fender 150 XL's (9-40) ever since.

I feel like it's easier for me to achieve different dynamics with the lighter strings. Now I play my strat with 8-38's and the scalloped board - it forces me to be very consistent and accurate to get the right pitch and volumes.

I've tried as big as 13's on my other strat and it's great for building hand strength but I don't like the feel or the tone.

Very cruddy ones, because I'm way too lazy to change them.

                        I use Slinky 10's because they're the only ones I don't break..and why I never change 'em.

That's what I was going to say. I remember back when I was learning in 1966 to play. All they had were flatwounds, like 13-56:ROTF: That's what I learned on. Now on most electrics, it's pretty much 10-46, with sometimes a 52 thrown in.

D'Addario XL 110's for me. Play mainly 80's metal so i'm usually always in Eb.

I used Elixir 10's for a bit cos i got them when i bought a new axe, swapped them off for the good ol' XL's after a day. Not a fan of coated strings i must say.
                            Stringed things:
                            Charvel Model 4
                            Charvel NOS Star
                            Gibson SG Special

                              Yngwie uses 8's, but his sets are hybrid: 8, 11, 14, 22, 32, 46

And interestingly enough, even with such light high strings, he tunes to Eb

                              See http://www.deanmarkley.com/Strings/E...msteenEl.shtml
