In this type of specific situation - where the minor has previously exhibited substantial evidence that they are capable of making mature, responsible decisions, and have a clear understanding of right and wrong - I feel the Statutory Rape clause should not apply.

Forcible rape, yes, by all means lock him up, but she has not indicated she was forcibly raped, but that it was consentual, regardless of the "age of consent".

I guess that some rag (I think the National Enquirer) did a story about her being pregnant. A lawyer contacted them and said that the story was false and told them to retract the story or else. That she lived 'in accordance with her good Christian upbringing', went to church, that the story could damage her career as a 'budding actress' and blah blah blah.

Then I hear that she met her boyfriend through church. Some church, eh? Heck, they probably got confused about being missionaries and thought the church was talking about the position.

He's only 3 years older than she is, which makes it just a misdemeanor in California. It could probably be argued that due to her career she is leading an adult lifestyle too. Besides, if the guy is standing by her and the child I doubt the state of California would want to prosecute him.

Give her credit that she didn't just abort the child. I'm sure she can afford to raise it properly too, she's already been raking in that Nickelodeon money for 5 or 6 years now. Plus her mom and sister both have money, mom managed them both for awhile.
