My Uncle used to smoke, was an alcoholic, and did other 'illegal substances' on the side, but cleaned up his act, and has been free of all that (aside from a glass of wine or 2 at family Christmas, Easter, whatever) for about 2 years now.

the bad thing is with that he also gave up his good music, for something "God would approve of"

as far as I can tell, if you arent a complete dick to people, God thinks you're a nice person
