EMG's response to the Blackout

They don't need to do anything, apart from continuing to hype their existing pups. They can tote themselves as "The Original Active Pickup", keep signing endorsers, etc. Whether the SD Blackouts are "better" or not matters little in the equation.

Interesting. I'm quite happy with passive pups, but it's good to know there's some competition now for EMG.

I'm waiting for EMG to come out with a MUCH better active pup to crush the blackout. I'd much rather have a pup with the cool EMG logo, than the long, stretched Seymour Duncan taking up the space of the whole pickup. ...for real.

I think alot of people will hate them and alot of people will love them. People will try them and then sell them looking for there holy grail of gear and tone. I doubt that it will hurt EMG at all. EMGs have been around a long time and have been used on some great music.

+1 i totally agree.. i have been using EMG forever and i have tried the blackouts .. they are good pickups but im sticking with my EMGs

People like Active over Passive pickups like they like Solid State over Tube amps.

Just more varity to sound orginal
