      Earth Vs The Wildhearts

Is this the best British rock album of the '90s?
Big riffs, clever funny lyrics, huge shoutalong/drinkalong choruses. Not a duff track to be found.
It's worth buying just for Suckerpunch!

how about some Skunk Anansie? Paranoid & Sunburnt still gets a lot of play at my place, 13 years after its release. It swings from snotty punkishness to bodacious rocker to sweetly ballad.

a shining light in the mire of mid-90s radio rock

        Hail yesterday

the guitar players look damaged - they've been outcasts all their lives

            Erm, wasn't that the Blackhearts?

Anyway, on another thread someone mentioned Torque. Pretty sure they weren't talking about the band so.................my recommendation for today is
            Torque - "Torque" (Mascot Records)

Phil Demmel's band (or one of them) after he left Vio-lence. Some tracks co-written and featuring Sean Killian, every bit as good as Robb Flynn's first post-Vio-lence release, but sadly overlooked.
So I woke up,rolled over and who was lying next to me? Only Bonnie Langford!

            I nearly broke her back

Why I like it, I wrote 1/2 of it and we haven't had any complaints of boring, filler or anything... so far so good. Only complaint was the mix.

if you like it, please pic it up. http://www.bodyofscars.com/STORE.htm

here is a review .. as usual, the review sucks

There's nothing new going on here, just straight-up, raging metal. We didn't bother to read Body of Scars' list of influences (if they have one), because we can clearly hear them. The dual guitars churn out the high-pitched, racing-scale solos mastered by Iron Maiden and — more prominently for BoS...

Let me know what you think...

              We've sold over 500 copies ....

And have had over 12,000 illegal downloads

It's awesome to be in one of your favorite bands!!

Usually sludgy, bottom heavy rock, heavy Sabbath influence, slow tempo. Very similar to Doom metal, desert, and a few other niche genres.

There are hundreds of bands that could be used as an example. Kyuss, C.O.C, Cathedral, Orange Goblin, Electric Wizard, Clutch, Down, Burning Witch, Dixie Witch, Fu Manchu, Monster Magnet, Preistess, Sheavy, Sunno))), Trouble, Melvins, etc.

The list could go on and on, but I just listed some of the better known bands.

                          • Some newer recommendations from me:

                            - David Grissom - "Loud Music" - Texas blues/rock perfection.
                            - Eden's Curse - "Eden Curse" - modern melodic rock that is about as good as you can imagine.
                            - Michael Orlando - "Sonic Stomp" - awesome shred with a great sense of melody.

And here are two albums from a guy I just discovered earlier this month:

                            - Iain Ashley Hersey - "Fallen Angel"
                            - Iain Ashley Hersey - "The Holy Grail"

And lastly, if you like Rush, check out a band called Trytan. The guitarist/singer sounds exactly like Geddy Lee and musically, the evoke mid-period Rush, a la "Caress of Steel" to about "2112" or "Permanent Waves".
Takeoffs are optional but landings are mandatory.

                              • How about the band the late Bruce Fairbairn cut his teeth on (Producer of Bon Jovi, AC/DC, Aerosmith and BOC...to name a few...Mentor to Bob Rock)

Prism...Came to an abrupt end but, for the time (late 70's early 80's) they had some cool stuff...

Young and Restless, Spaceship Superstar and Armageddon were pretty cool.
