  • New Coldworker album recorded

    Hey all!

We've recorded a new album during December, and like our first album it's been mixed by Dan Swanö, at Unisound. But this time he also mastered it.

There's a post on Blabbermouth on it if anyone's interested:

We recorded the drums in Soundlab Studios, which Mieszko Talarczyk used to to run, while still alive. Nowadays Millencolin owns the place, it's their combined rehearsal space/studio.

Here's Anders (Jakobson) drums, set up for recording: http://www.ruin666.com/annat/CW/PC060020.JPG

From left to right: Anders (our drummer), Niklas (helped us out with ProTools), Dan Swanö (helped us out with nearly everything): http://www.ruin666.com/annat/CW/PC050015.JPG

And here I am, recording guitars, at our friend Johan's place: http://www.ruin666.com/annat/CW/gura%20012.jpg

I recorded all my parts using my WRMG that I bought in December.

It feels like we've made a really good record, I hope that it's true, haha!

On a side note, we're playing the Essen Death Feast in Germany next weekend. Any German JCFers going there? Here's the flyer: http://www.ruin666.com/annat/CW/df.jpg

that's cool, Anders. Look forward to hearing it. If you guys can build on what you did with the first one, I reckon it'll be a really good album.

Checked out the video on Blabbermouth too. Sounds good, apart from the cymbals drowning everything out!

When do you expect to release it? So I can start hassling my local cd shop about it
    Hail yesterday

Cool Gary! Yeah I think it's better than the first album in pretty much all ways. But it's hard to know yet, since I've listened to/played the stuff so intensively the last months.

The sound in that video is terrible, but at least it's one of the new songs.

Around the beginning of May I think, I really look forward to that! Haha, yeah I was really happy that you bought the first one. Quite mind boggling that our cd is available in stores on the side of the globe!

I just hope I get a chance to accept your offer about that beer sometime!

Please let the packaging / linear art be as awesome as the first album. Very few bands now-a-days pay any attention to that and I think that the booklet was exceptionally done. Songs on the CD are great too, very aggressive.

I'm sure the album itself will be great... What amps did you guys use to record?

            You didn't!

Thanks Bill! Yeah I figured you'd like the Swanö part, hehe! I'm not sure, but I think you'll like the new album better than our first one, at least I hope so!

If we ever get to go to the US, anywhere near you, we'll have a beer brother!

The same goes for you Rob (is it? or am I way off?)! I really hope the artwork will be killer on this one as well! I have no doubts about that though, Orion at Relapse (the guy who did the artwork for our debut album) is doing this one as well, so I'm sure it'll turn out killer! He's one hell of a guy!

Well, this is where we'll lose all old school guys, haha... The guitars are all digital, Swanö's used a technique called re-amping (I think?)... But I think he's even gone so far as to use a plug in called ReValver or something (don't quote me on that though :p). So the guitars are all digital, but it sounds great... and I assure you, we've played EVERY SINGLE note on the album, haha! I should know... man we had our work cut out for us!

I'll try to get some more details on the guitar part, and come back with all the correct info!

re-amping is when you are recording your guitar with no mater what equipment, one signal from the guitar is captured so its sound isn't altered at all, it's the purest sound from the guitar.

and with that pure guitar track you can do all kinds of things, like plugging it into various guitar amps, pressing the play button to play the track and the same time recording the sound wich is coming out of the amp(s), with software you just change the amp modules for the recorded track

              that is re-amping

of course real players actually play even 600 takes if that's requiered to get all the different amp sounds recorded

Can't wait to hear what you guys have in "the bag" for us this time!

EMG85 in the bridge on the WRMG? For rythm? Let us know when you have sound clips available, please.

And the headphone cord is too short, damnit!!

Hehe, yeah, actually, the candy wasn't mine, but I stole some.

It's actually an 81 in the bridge, but it's funny you should say that... Because when I bought the guitar, the pickups were mounted wrong at the factory, so the 85 was actually in the bridge. I never tried it though, but it would be easy to, thanks to the quick connect thing.

Yeah, it looks a bit funny, haha!

I think it'll be out around the beginning of May, I can't wait to have the finished product in my hands! I'm very excited to see what kind of artwork Orion at Relapse comes up with!
