Well, you asked for opinions. I don't like any of it. "Fleece Beaver"? That's the worst band name I've ever heard in my life.
I think maybe the picture would work if the octopus was much smaller and the background was blue.

But what would I know?

Re: the band/project name. Wouldn't just Fleece be better? Fleece Beaver really, to me, makes it sound like a joke band. Like Lawnmower Deth, or Speak English Or Die, or Dragonforce.

I would make the font match the underwater theme. Those wavering kinda huge fonts from the old 50's movies maybe...

I do think the octopus needs to be holding something. A joint is a logical idea. Something that is totally oposite of underwater life/octopus. A lit anything kinda goes with that. Maybe a megaphone? I don't know...

I like to color scheme from the first one better...

I swear I've seen that first font on a pinball machine somewhere...

I like the first pic better. I'm not gonna rag on your band name as that's very subjective, plus it wasn't what you asked about (though I do dig it!). I think you use more of the black background in the corner for the logo. Try something in all caps, maybe one word on top of the other like this:
FLEECE
BEAVER

Or use the opposite corner and do a horizontal/vertical thing:

Ah that explains why I got thrown out off that nature trail in Canada for asking the guide if she had ever eaten beaver.

She said no, but that she loved a cockatoo. I told her I would report her to the authorities because, due to deforestation and loss of habitat, coupled with export for the pet trade (illegal and legal), these beautiful Australian birds were facing a steep and irreversible decline, and that she should reconsider her culinary choices, refraining from importing such charming and unique creatures.


She then gave me a strange look, thought for a second, then kicked me in the bollocks.

zeegs, I like the colour scheme of the first, but agree on the font issue. The fonts you've tried so far make it look a cheap K-Tel compilation records or one of the christian revival band album covers that turn up on those "worst record cover" lists.

I like the colors of the first one, but that logo has to go-go.

Maybe try a more normal font like Impact and give it some kind of outline. Mybe just a grey font with a black out line. Silly fonts just look...well, silly.
