As to getting comparables on value, etc, the car wasn't even 6 freakin' months old yet. An '07 MazdaSpeed6
If it was enough to trash your rear suspension, it very well could of damaged the actual frame, in which case, it may well be totaled.

Did the air bags go off? My wife was rear ended, but was able to drive the car home. Since both airbags deployed the car came within 1000.00 of being totalled. I think the insurance company took pity and repaired it. The payout was about 3 grand short of the payoff and we did not have gap coverage. I recommend that everyone look into gap coverage if you carry a note on your ride.

No, the air bags didn't deploy. Being on that tight horseshoe turn, I suspect my car was traveling too slow for the sensors to trigger the airbags. Just a guess on my part, though.

Mmm, hopefully it doesn't do any mental scarring. I've never been in an accident when I was driving, but am scared half senseless with other people now... was in a car that did a 180 over a bridge into the river. Not fun.

Good to hear that you're not hurt, t's are nasty.

                Took some pics yesterday.

Point of impact. Looks like mostly body panel damage, eh? Must admit, that puppy held pretty solid. Props to Mazda's design guys.

OK, here's the driver's side. That rear wheel's wasted, and hmmm....something's not quite right. Why is the whole body cockeye'd relative to that rear wheel?

Well, here's why. Force applied to passenger side by collision + immovable object on driver's side (concrete curb) = suspension-wasting sandwich.

Gotta wonder just how much more damage is down there. Broken axle, maybe? Frame damage?

I hate to say it, but it kind of looks like your frame may well be bent. It could just be the angle the car is sitting at due to the suspension being busted, so you'll have to have to see what they say once its been inspected. That having been said, I'm not a mechanic by any means.

Freakin ditzy girl didn't brake her car, and she totally rear-ended one guy. He, in turn, got pushed into slamming my car. T-boned me pretty well coming around a horseshoe corner. I never had a chance - couldn't even see it coming.

The only positive coming away from this is the troopers were cool to deal with, and I'm totally NOT at fault. Will have the accident report tomorrow. So it shouldn't hit my insurance premiums.

Sorry for venting...just P.O.'d right now.
Not a problem no apologies necessary, venting is good.
Just glad your alright and your insurance shouldn't experience a hike either.
Theres crazy drivers out there, it doesn't take much with all the wacky drivers out there to have an accident.

This is the time those "Discount" insurance companies will come back to haunt you. I was T-Boned a few years back and tried dealing with the Insurance ompany of the lady who hit me (Allstate). At first they were cool and everything started to look good untill the lady that hit me decides a few days later that it wasn't her fault. That's when I called my insurance company (State Farm) and they really went to bat for me. They went and took all kinds of pictues of the instersection and kicked ass. It ended up having to go arbitration as they were only accepting 60% of the blame. Ya right, like I was 40% at fault when she ran out of a parking lot and ran straight into the side of my truck. Anyways, the arbitration found her 100% at fault and I wasn't out a dime in the end.

                      Matt

                        I'm glad you weren't injuried. That's key.

What happens when both people have the same car insurance? I currently have Geico, which is pretty popular. Would they or other insurance carriers go thru the trouble of taking pictures, etc, if there were paying regardless since they cover both drivers?
