  • Worst movie in years - Cloverfield

Ok, so the previews made it seem like it'd be a cool King Kong/Godzilla monster takes over New York sort of thing.

In theory, that's what it was and it should have been fun.

In reality, the movie sucked balls. The first 20-30 minutes of the movie was of this lame going away party. The whole movie is shot from the perspective of one of the dorks carrying a video camera. So the camera action sucks.

The story sucked. The monsters sucked. The acting sucked. Even the popcorn was stale.

    F--
I want REAL change. I want dead bodies littering the capitol.

We haven't decided whether to go see it. Reviews have either been great or like yours. My wife got nauseous from Blair Witch's camera work (talk about a suckfest), so I'm a little worried about the handheld camera thing, especially since she's pregnant. Meh, we'll probably pass. It's tough getting a decent babysitter around here.

Lots of hype, for sure, but looks like Blair Witch Project: Urban to me. Haven't seen it, though. Guess I won't now!

And I guess you want your nine bucks back!?

Thanks Tim,I was considering seeing that tonight but had my doubts.I hated BWP because of the camera work and this sounds like more of the same.

I thought the preview sucked, too. His going away party looked boring as hell, and if I want to see shaky, crappy video footage, I'll shoot my own.

I have to say, Kathy and I enjoyed it. Then again, we liked Godzilla 2000. Yes the camera shaking was a pain, but hey, it was supposed to be taken with a hand held. Unbelievable? Sure. I would have dropped that camera and ran like a sissy boy after the Glock was empty.:ROTF:

All in all it had its shortcomings, but it is a movie and it is just entertainment. We'd like to see it again, but I think I'll wait for the dvd.

I saw Blair Witch when it came out. This is a much better movie than that imo.

Yeah, but did you get to see the new Star Trek trailer?

Yeah, I saw Blair Witch in the theater. And I own it, but I don't know how. I don't know if I said it right, but I meant to say that I hadn't seen Cloverfoot, but that from the preview it looked like BWP:U to me...

I'll probably see Clovenhoof like everything else these days that isn't Disney/Pixar: on DVD.

I liked the movie but I kept thinking Ive seen this before. To me, Cloverfield is to Miracle Mile what Star Wars is to The Hidden Fortress. Its a kickass movie........

Blair Witch kicked ass. Best low budget horror movie made in years. And it proves you don't need a big budget to scare people...

The thing I like about Cloverfield, and I have not seen it yet, is the way they marketed it. Sounds like it worked for Tim. Pretty brilliant, if you ask me. Not showing too much. I saw the trailer last summer before Transformers and it didn't have a title or anything. Didn't know what it was called but it stuck with me. Kudos to not showing the monster in the trailers either. Keep them guessing...

Blair Witch was marketed very well too. One of the best internet campaigns I've ever seen. Has not been topped yet, I don't think...

But movies often don't live up to the hype. I'll wait and rent this one...

A lot of people are walking out because of the motion of the camera. I also here is a take off of "The Host" which I will be watching this weekend.

Cloverfield kicked ass, sorry. And don't bother renting it. It's one of those movies that will surely suck on the small screen.

i liked the movie...at least what i watched...i had to leave because of the camera work. I actually yakked in the bathroom LOL.

(yes, i'm a pussy! it's weird...i completely lost...and i mean LOST...my tolerance for vertigo when I was at six flags and rode that ride that spins around and the floor drops out...5x in a row.)

if you are going to watch the movie, grab some DRAMAMINE first.
