    For Cloverfield, yes

This movie in IMAX format would be better than a thousand million orgasms.

I think cloverfield would have sucked if you didn't take it from the perspective of the people involved. Just don't go into the movie expecting answers because you are not suppose to get any.

Probably going to see it this weekend. I guess it's odd too--I liked Blair Witch Project.

In theory, that's what it was and it should have been fun.

In reality, the movie sucked balls. The first 20-30 minutes of the movie was of this lame going away party. The whole movie is shot from the perspective of one of the dorks carrying a video camera. So the camera action sucks.

The story sucked. The monsters sucked. The acting sucked. Even the popcorn was stale.

          F--
          Yep.
I went the premiere weekend, and I could only take about 40-45 minutes worth, I left.
Lame, pathetic easily by far the worst movie I've saw/seen.
On a brighter side, my popcorn was fresh and very tastey.
Peace, Love and Happieness and all that stuff...

I personally do not care how it was built as long as it is a good playing/sounding instrument.

It's a concept movie, so it's bound to turn a lot of people off. It sounds like that M. Night Sham. Mel gibson flick Signs, in that people looking for a traditional movie left feeling sorely disappointed (I know I thought it sucked).

As for Cloverfield, I've heard from a lot of people that just loved it. A sound designer friend of mine said it had the best sound he'd heard in years. I'm going to be out of town next weekend for a wedding, so I'm saving it in case I get bored.

Just came back from taking the wife and kiddies to see it.
We liked it. As someone mentioned earlier, there aren't any
answers given as to the origin of the creature, but it was
pretty good......Blair witch meets Godzilla meets The Mist.

BTW,saw the Star Trek trailer too.....looks pretty bad ass!!

How was The Mist? I've seen The Fog (both the original and remake) and enjoyed that. The Mist seemed like it was a take on that, but I'm not sure.

I thought Signs was decent. I thought The Village sucked, though!

I dropped my dimes on I Am Legend tonight instead. Cool flick.
                      The Buzzard does not fear
                      The man in riot gear
                      Harvest a skull of stone
                      The Buzzard grows his own...

It was ok.....as long as you dont expect it to be in the same league
as something really great from the sci fi genre, like Alien/Aliens or
whatever. It was originally a Stephen King short story.....one of my
favorite things by him. It had alot of B and C list actors in it. Considering
                        that though,it was allright.

We saw that one a few weeks ago too. That was pretty good as well.
Although they're obviously different in alot of ways,I'd rank that and
                          Cloverfield pretty equally.

Some friends called us yesterday to go see "Cloverfield" and I had just read the first few responses in this thread before we left for the theater. Other than what little I had read here, all I had was my wife's comment that it was kind of "Godzilla" meets "The Blair Witch Project".

Here are my thoughts on "Cloverfield":

                            - there's 84 minutes of my life I'll never get back

                            - why couldn't the battery in the camcorder have died, like a real one would?

                            - I've never rooted harder for a monster to just kill off everyone so I could leave

                            - why do some directors feel that we like to see faked, crappy camcorder productions?

                            - if you can only miss one movie this year, make it "Cloverfield"
Takeoffs are optional but landings are mandatory.

Whoa, timeout. Star Trek trailer? Is it going to be another TNG movie? I miss Data

edit: nevermind, I googled it. A prequel to the original series, eh? I don't know about that one...
