My parents went through this a while ago. They bought a Maytag Gemini. It had nothing but problems. The onboard computer would freeze. They would set the oven to self clean and the door would lock and never open. They went through 3 of those models in 1 1/2 months. So they bought a Viking and have had no problems for 2 years. They cook A LOT. Both are great cooks. They spend all day Sunday cooking. They love the Viking. Not only does it look friggin sweet, I dig the stainless steel vibe, it does the job well...

Just get the one your wife thinks looks prettiest, she'll be the one slaving over it, I hope. (Apart from the Sunday morning fry-up, of course) Maybe get one that you can butt the ironing board right up close, you can save her legs then, she'll appreciate that.So I woke up,rolled over and who was lying next to me? Only Bonnie Langford!
I nearly broke her back

I have just got done remodeling myself. While looking at different appliances and I can tell you one thing. Viking is way overpriced and usually lacks features that Wolf has. They are both very durable but, I was actually going to go with Dacor over Wolf and Viking until I ran into a major problem. The problem was that if I was going to change over to gas, I was going to have to install all new gas lines from the street and also replace all the gas lines in the house because the diameter of the lines would not support the BTU's of the stove and everything else and in the house.
I said fuck it and went induction instead of gas or element electric. No heating element, the pan becomes the element and I can boil a pot of water in less then a minute. Had to run a 50 AMP line just to support the cooktop... lol

We have a stainless steel Jennair downdraft. I think they are like high-end Maytag, but not too sure. I've heard bad stuff about Maytag, but we have never had the slightest problem with the Jennair. It's handy too, because it has interchangeable cartridges. We have a grill insert and a griddle insert, which we use all the time.

I have been reading and the vibe I get from this and appliance forum are that Wolf seems to be the preferred vendor. I think we are going with the dual fuel model, gas top electric convection oven.
Now the big question,
charbroiler
or griddle
Come and get one in the yarbles, if you have any yarbles, you yunick jelly thou!
