    Ralph,
REAL fooball and Madden are totally different. Like compairing apples to oranges...

You think that if 1 team is able to get warm on the sidelines in a 0 degree game and the other can't, that's not a huge advantage? If you think it's not, you've lived in Atlanta too long. You need to come spend some time here in Iowa. It's a HUGE advantage...

A QB can usually tell what coverage the D is using before the snap. D-backfields don't hide that shit like Linebackers do. It's a bravado thing, they line up and dare you to beat them. That's how they work. They are usually frustrated wanna be Wide Recievers that are too short...

But this came out in week 1. Do you think they kept doing it after week 1?

And if this is a big issue, why aren't more teams bitching about it? I would think Al Davis loves sticking it to the NFL, he'd be all over it. Nope, it's mainly SI bitching, and I've already stated that their credibility is in question over this issue...

What the fuck can congress do? Lame duck. Juiced jocks. No legislative power. Why not fuck with our passtimes. Let's blame the demise of sports for all that is "Wrong". Makes sense to me.:ROTF:

Oh. And another thing. SPOTTERS should be banned. NASCAR, football, perverts and anything else that has changed the way the game was played a long time ago. And that is why I don't do sports.

My point (with Madden) was if you know how you're being defensed, you know before the snap your best option, you don't have to figure it out after the snap, same in the NFL. Less sacks, higher completion percentage, less mistakes...

And we're not talking about only knowing the d-backs, we're talking about knowing whether there's a blitz coming, where the safety is headed, etc. It changes what priority the QB checks down his receivers. Having this knowledge pre-snap drastically changed the fairness of the game. Figuring it out at the line is one thing, but cheating to figure it out is another.

I don't know if they did for the rest of the season. I know that FoxSports reported that they were caught 4 prior times to 2007 and that is why the league sent out a memo over the summer prior to this season warning every team about doing it.

"Here's what we do know about the past: After New England was caught in September, stories emerged of at least four previous spying incidents from seasons past being brought to the league's attention. That likely played a part in commissioner Roger Goddell sending out a summer memo specifically reminding teams of the filming rule."

A win on Sunday makes New England the undisputed '07 champ, but there are questions about past trophies.

            Ralph,
I see what you are saying. But all we really know is they were "trying" to steal signals. We don't know that they HAD stolen any, right? We know they were trying to. So until they do, there is no real cheating. The cheating comes in AFTER you know what the signals are. They didn't know what they were, thats why they had a camera trying to record it...

But still, I've read interviews where offensive coordinators change the names of the plays every week. So if that happens, what good is stealing them?

If it's not known that it happens, why do head coaches who call the plays cover their mouth before they do it? See, that's the thing. If the Jets had done this, there would be nothing to steal. Call the play, don't use a signal, and cover your mouth. Nothing to steal. So maybe the Jets need to figure out how to protect their team...

But just because you know the play doesn't guarentee sucess. Seems to me you're taking a lot of credit away from some pretty damn good players. You may not like them but Brady and Welker and Moss and Laroney are some damn good players. Harrison, Seau, Bruschi, and Thomas are some damn fine defensive players. Give them the credit they deserve. Plays are called from the sidelines, but plays are executed on the field...

I listened to a good comparison between the "72 Dolphins and what the Pats could do. The bottom line is in the "70's, aka my cool van, you could throw a wide reciever to the ground all the way down the field. Now, if you pat the guy on the back you get called. The Game ain't the Same.

                Ralph,
I'm still waiting to hear if stealing signals in baseball is cheating?

I have to assume that you would probably say no and if that's the case, why\how is it different?

If you answer yes, then why aren't you b*ching about baseball?

Just play the fukking Game. Cut out all the bullshit. Put a team on the field. No headphones anywhere. The headphones in the helmet are just fukked. If some base runner can steal a sign, that's good. If a DB can see a trend and compensate, that's good. But to look at instant pics and have spotters has ruined the games. At that means all of them.

                    fett,
There is no doubt that Randy Moss wouldn't be the reciever he is if he played in the 70's. Too physical for him then...

But I would argue that those rules have made the game more exciting. Nothing cooler than a streaking WR beating a DB for a 75 yard touchdown...

Sometimes it just helps to focus your shame and anguish over your own team's 4 & 12 season into irrational hatred of other teams. I can see how the juxtaposition of so much success against so much degradation and failure would burn and itch like a Ron Mexico forget me not.

What the hell is a Ron Mexico Forget Me Not? Do I really want to know?

My team did shit this year. But I'm more of an internal hater. I focus my hate on my team. They lost the games. I find it hard to deflect that hate onto something that has nothing to do with my teams sucktitude...

Here is how to make a 60 minute game worth watching. Let the game run a quarter with no commercials. Then run 4 min of them. The one thing that just kills the game for me are the constant breaks.
