Meh, maybe it's just that we've heard those same songs over & over & over & over

I enjoyed the guitar tone in the Toyota Sequoia ad way better...plus, they just played Danzig "Mother" during a Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles ad

Ron. You are not old enough to appreciate just how great Tom Petty is. He didn't sell out. His songs are just great. Kinda like CCR.
I am a true ass set to this board.

I'm a huge Tom Petty fan and the bottom line, their tone was thin as TP (toilet paper). Granted, it was great seeing them and I've seen a whole lot worse, but the mix could've been better.

Petty sounded pretty good. That nation anthem though...lip synched? That sounded too good.

Tom Petty is Emperor. Buddy of mine/Myself where listening to Emperor with the halfgame on mute. Scary shit.

That was one of the best half time shows ever,, but hell I'm a big Tom Petty fan.. Tom had a gorgeous Rickenbacker and Mike Campbells double neck was pretty cool as well
I say the boy ain't right!

The only thing I'd have changed was for them to have played complete songs rather than leaving out a verse or 2 or shortening them. Just play 1 less song. I guess I know why they always do it that way at the Superbowl, but I don't like it. I remember when Michael Jackson did it, it seemed like he sang 1 or 2 lines from about a dozen songs.

It wasn't the greatest but it sure as hell could have been worse (Rap, Hip-hop...)

I don't think we can comment on the tone unless we were there live.

After getting $500K, maybe now Tom Petty can afford a real guitar (like a Jackson) FusionFarmer

Agreed that my favorite TP is from Damn the Torpedoes.
