tom petty... actually sounded good

did you guys notice those vintage looking vox amps and ampeg amps he was using? more than the ampeg, I was laughing away at the Vox's. It looked like amps from the 60's that the Beatles used to use.

I like a few of tom petty's songs. I think his tone could have been better, but they did put on a good show. Better than the "Justin with a timber in his pants" and Jacket Jackson.

I have a special place in my heart for Tom Petty. When my son was just a tad we would lie in bed together in my room. I had a very kickass tube stereo system on the desk behind the bed. He would sing along with a few songs. I will always remember that.

The old man can still rock. Tone sounded fine on Mike Campbell's solos. Others have said it and I will agree that halftime show sound is a difficult gig. Of course that's why so many recent bowl shows featured prerecorded lip-synched crap.

i thought the Prince show in the rain last year was one of the best. I guess tom is a safe artist for the show, but with the mic in his face much of the show, kind of made it boring till the last song. the way the V move into the stage was cool though.

As for Petty. He's looking old. Very old. What? He doesn't move on stage anymore? Talk about boring. My God. Someone hook a car battery up to his nuts and maybe he'll move around more. I think his music is OK. But his live show really lacks...

And his tone was shit. Pure shit. But the 5.1 mix during the game sucked too. Not really Pettys fault the audio guy in the truck didn't know shit...
