I had several models of the Lightning. It was always one of my favourite jets. I suppose they're all mothballed now.
I just looked into this and apparently the F35, which is a joint project between NATO countries, is also named the Lightning II.Last edited by zeegler; 02-05-2008, 07:47 AM.

It's cool that they're keeping the name going. I just hope that it can live up to the legacy. Sadly the old Brit Lightnings are all static these days, except for the one in the picture, which still is able to power-up and do fast runway displays. Hopefully they'll get her airworthy one day...
There are some flying Lightnings in private hands in S. Africa.

I was just checking on famly history stuff. My "uncle" Jiggs (not really an uncle, just a very close friend of the family) flew a P-51 over Europe from 1943-1945. His plane was named "Snake Hips". I wish I had a picture of it. Don't even know what the graffic looked like. He died about 4 years ago, I need to get ahold of his daughter and see if there is a picture of him in the cockpit...
Doesn't Gary Numan (the dude who did the song Cars) restore and fly vintage WWII aircraft? I wonder how expensive that has become?I'm angry because you're stupid

Gary is a pilot, but I don't know what type of planes he has.

I saw one flying at the RAF Duxford airshow about 5 years ago, and shit myself then too. This time it was because I was trying to be clever and do a motorboat impression, squeezed just one fart out too many and followed through.
I'd like to see the Vulcan flying again, they've restored one a few miles from where I live, and typically the day they got it off the ground, I was away and missed it.So I woke up,rolled over and who was lying next to me? Only Bonnie Langford!
I nearly broke her back

Courtesy Aircraft can help you buy and sell warbirds and civilian aircraft. We are the world leader in warbird sales, and have sold and delivered thousands of Aircraft since 1957.
P51's pull 1.5 mil and up. I saw a nice P40 a while back go high. You never or very rarely see P38's and they pull major bucks.Last edited by StukaJU87; 02-05-2008, 03:07 PM.Scott
Be without fear in the face of your enemies. Be brave and upright, that God may love thee. Speak the truth always, even if it leads to your death. Safeguard the helpless and do no wrong.

Blazer,
I figured you might dig this pic.
My brother Al, (AKA theone1950) has been building radio-controlled planes for a number of years... they fly and are fun to wreck!
LOL
Here's one of his latest... wingspan is something like 5 feet or more.
Dig it!
"Wow,... that was some of the hardest rockin ever. Hardest to listen too."
