The Crusader was a hell of a plane though. Faster than the F4 if I recall, and some weird wing angle variance system for takeoffs/landings...

I've been lucky (and old) enough to have seen both the Lightning and Vulcan fly at air displays. However my fondest "holy shit!" moment was provided by a pair of German nutters in F-104s.

I have also seen them fly. 104's too. My dad was an aircraft radar tech for the RCAF for 34 years. We used to live on Cold Lake AFB. When Canada bought the CF-18's he was one of the crew to do the first once over on them. Got to see those fly too. Fucking awesome.

I always loved the look of the swept wing craft like the Corsair, the Phantom F-4, etc.
