He can't stand anyother viewpoint of the USA other than his jaded one. I like to throw my communist/facist tendencies in his face. Makes him squirm...

But Cyg, where have you been outside of the USA? I bet nowhere. Maybe Mexico. But I doubt it. Too many mexicans down there...

I feel that most humans would have a hard time putting Clinton in office. But that's my opinion. No I don't care for Bush or much that he stands for either.

The nice thing is that McCain is nothing like Bush and should garner the folks that don't want Clinton in office. He has to appeal to Republicans because he's all they've got and he is soft enough around social issues and liberal enough to attract disaffected republicans or moderate democrats. He is the right choice, no matter who the Dems pick.

By the way, I'd vote for Ron Paul....

Republicans hate him because he's for amnesty for illegal aliens...

Plus his "Anti Gun Show". Thats gotta be a problem....

Only way he comes close to winning is if Hillary is the Democratic nomination...

If it's Obama, he smokes McCain...

It's always people like you who say that bullshit. And that's what it is, bullshit. I say we are not the envy of the world anymore and I don't think we are. Just ask our European friends. That's where you will find the answer to that. We USE to be, not too long ago. But we are not anymore...

But you're right. I'm just an idiot that would rather live in Cambodia than the USA. Yep...

See the USA I remember is the one where Mom and Pop stores could flurish. Average people like you and me Cyg actually had a shot at the American Dream. An America that led by example, not by the Iron Fist. That's the American I remember and love. This one is a bit different...

But go ahead, call me Un-American or tell me to get out. Whatever. That just means you can't debate the issue and resort to Bullshit tactics. Business as usual for ole EARS UP boy...
Looks like you're back at it.
I'm just whacking away scales on the (new to me) Jackson and looking at the paystub on my desk. Over-withheld, once again...Man I can't wait to reap the stunning profits made from all that money I have going into Social Security and FICA payments. Gosh almighty, I'll be rich when that comes through! Big Government rules! I wish I had more big government...
Funny how my 401k has made more in 5 years that I'll ever possibly (might)
see out of the 25 years of payments I've made to that grand instutution of investment wisdom that IS the SSA.
Or is it a place that you desire that would allow me to keep my money to
do what I wished with? I probably misunderstood. I'd like to know of that place.
So, all sarcasm aside, there only a couple of spots in US history where I can see that the average person could proceed with their lives without too much government intervention, or too little. The years between the Constitutional Convention, and affirming the nation after the War of 1812.
And, after the Civil War for a time in everywhere but the deep South.
Then, Socialism started to rear it's head prior to WW1, a brief respite, then
a market of speculation gone wild, (depression, combined with the wrong kind of government intrusion into the markets, and socialist populist tendencies creeping into the institutions of finance and education...)
Then another boom, with little government intervention. Cold war, then
the demise of America in the hands of LBJ, Nixon, then Carter.
          Need I go on?
The only revitalization that paid off was the return of conservatism, where
the Reagan administration did everything it could to return control of the private sector to the market. And the idea that personal responsibility and
personal success without government intervention might be possible.

So, I have seen the success, and the further possibilities of success.
Our country has done quite well. Where is the pestilence? Why the cry for change? Because 4 percent of the needy need a hand up? No, it's a two century old drive to Engls and Marx. Gosh, it's Utopia, but if only we could
make it work...Somewhere. The USSR was just a short hiccup in the ultimate goal of making that socialist utopian dream work. Perhaps the US?

I really hate Hilary Clinton, and I used to like John McCain. Hell I wanted him to get the republican nomination back in 2000 instead of Bush. I don't want either of them to become president of this country. I think McCain is just going to beef up the military and get us into more problems while I think Clinton is just a power hungry bitch that will stop at nothing for power. I really want to see Barack Obama as the next president even though I don't agree with some of his gun control views. I can't believe he's barely been mentioned in this thread.
I'm gonna eat your brains and gain your knowledge.

Well, I was watching some package on MSNBC or something and they were talking about black republicans who are supporting Obama. Seems like there might be a lot of them...

Course why any black person would vote republican is way beyond me...

Me not being "black", I can only speculate.
Maybe because the Dems have "used" the blacks to get votes ever since
reconstruction, and turned around and slapped them with another form of slavery called welfare?

You know, just like at the end of many South Park episodes where Kyle or Stan says “I think I have learned something today”, I think I have too.

But first, I think we have been reminded why there are 2 things to stay clear of with others to remain friends. The first is politics, and the second is religion. Right there is the 2 most destructive forces know to mankind (I think the 3rd is Wal Mart tied with off shoring, but that’s another story). Just how many millions have died in the name of one of the two? Brothers vs. brothers, country vs. country, North vs. South, platinum member vs. platinum member, etc…..

The connection between the two is nobody likes to be told what to believe in. It could be just our nature since the beginning of time. Freedom of choice. So much is lip service that we have endured for so long. And to hear these people tell how they are going to do this, do that is such BS. They are not going to byte the hand of special interest groups that paid for them to get into office.

The sad part for me is I don’t see any of the candidates that are stand outs. It is more of which is the worse of two evils. And to add to the frustrations is the House and Senate. Many are mere puppets of Corporate Greed. They fuck around with baseball, football, etc…, but when it comes to what matters to all of us, not a thing. Take a look at what has happened to housing. Clinton says she has a plan to fix it. Great, but I want to know who fuck it up! Just like how they came down on Enron. Why don’t they dip into the pockets that got deep?
...that taste like tart, lemon yogart

Nope, the republicans turned their back on the civil rights movement in the 60's. You know that. They moved blacks to the dems ever since...

You are about as grounded in realty as my kids goldfish. WAIT! The goldfish may be more grounded than you...

See McCain get booed today when he brought up immigration? Classic...

This is a thing that kind of bothers me. I fully understand what those who would trust the government to take care of the poor and needy have the best of intentions. I also understand those who distrust the government to spend the public's money on matters of national interest on defense, or even offensive measures..
But, when I study those aspects, it grinds my heart the most, when the politicians hold out their hand for money to help the poor, infirm, unemployed, and whatnot, and waste it on a beuracracy that cannot be dislodged. And then defend it on the point that those that are against it are heartless, and just don't care about the needy that have come to depend on the government aid.
The same is said about the industrial military complex. In this, Eisenhower was correct. He saw the danger of building a similar trap for national defense in the name of favoring industry purely for further technological
profit at the hands of the taxpayer.
That is why, I am a conservative. Whichever way the GOVERNMENT goes, they tend to screw up everything. I'm not willing to go all the way to the libertarian side, as there is good use for the government in both cases.
I don't like to debate platitutes, I like specifics, and we must study history
to learn from it. Rush Limbaugh is much despised, but all should agree with his one principle in the analysis of corruption on either "side"...follow the money! And when the money isn't a factor...follow the desire for more power.

Romney is a douche. Did you hear this quote from his speech today?

"If I fight on in my campaign, all the way to the convention, I would forestall the launch of a national campaign and make it more likely that Senator Clinton or Obama would win. And in this time of war, I simply cannot let my campaign, be a part of aiding a surrender to terror,"

So he's dropping out because of the war? Or is he scared of McCain? Or is he just sick of spending his money without a good return?

Whatever it is, he's an asshat...
