Anyone check out the calorie or bulk content on a bag of dogfood? Most dogs just lie around and get fat.:ROTF:

One of my neighbors had a bag of dog food tear open when carrying it in the house, and left a huge pile of it in the parking lot. It rained, and the pile started to decay a few days later. At that point, it looked and smelled exactly like a massive pile of dog shit. Weird._________________________________________________

Tinned food doesn't help them clean their teeth. They need bones.
Get some.

My comment about the feed I give my dog ("human grade") simply meant it's not a load of sheep eyeballs, testicles and wet brown rectums ground into gravy. The stuff I feed my dog is stuff you could eat yourself without contracting a brain tumour.
What surprised me was reading the water content on tins of dog food. It's about 80%. You feed your dog that and he never needs fresh drinking water. He gets all his water from his "meat". Meat that's almost all water, with no real meat at all.
Feed him proper food and he needs fresh water all the time.
Try it. It shocked me.

Dogs eat grass because they're lacking something in thier diet. they eat the grass and end up gettin sick. Grass can also be extremely dangerous and cut intestines and the stomach lining. Bones are also bad because shards of bone can get lodged into the thraught the intestines, the bowels etc... And cause severe injury needing surgery. And sometimes can lead to death if consumed while noone is home to take the dog to the vet if this happens. Vitamins and minerals lacking in a dpgs diet is a reason dogs eat out of the cats litter box.
Just some food for thought. lol

one thing that i found really interesting on a greyhound board is that some feed a completely raw diet, and do really well on it. kinda interesting.

Dogs is dogs. They are a few steps away from wolves. Their inbred need is raw meat. Why is that so hard understand? And why do people spend big bucks on dog food? Cat food blows my mind. Just feed them a can of cheap fish.I am a true ass set to this board.

I'm curious to know if you dog owners keep food and water out for your pet all the time, or limit it to feeding times?
I haven't had a dog since I lived at home, but when I did, we fed them both ways. Our first set we always had dry dog food and water out for them, plus fed them our scraps. They did fine and lived good long lives -14 years apiece. Both big dogs too, a great dane (indoor dog)and a black lab (outdoor dog).
The later dogs were given regular meals (dry food) plus occasional scraps, and unlimited water. they lived long too.
But I know some people who have very finicky dogs with weird quirks I never heard of. Like for my friend's yellow lab, he can't keep a bucket of water out because the dog just won't stop drinking until it's ALL gone, she would literally drink herself to death. Oh, and every toilet seat cover in the house has to be down too! And the dog will puke on a dime if she eats certain foods like white cheese (which she steals off the table), but yellow cheese is fine!"Your work is ingenius…it’s quality work….and there are simply too many notes…that’s all, just cut a few, and it’ll be perfect."

Two meals a day, water bowl stays full all of the time.
The cats (except one, he's just weird) and the dog all want the same water dish.
If we try to put one out for the cats, the dog will drink that, the cats won't touch it,
but the cats are cool with using the dog's water dish. Toilet seats always stay down when not in use, house rule even with no pets.
