Anyhoo, sad news. He was one of my favorites. I wouldn't say he was underrated; he had a slew of good (critically and financially) movies in the late 70s and early 80s - Jaws (of course), All That Jazz, 52 Pickup, 2010, and a bunch of others I've probably never seen.
