    just in.

i dunno what that will mean for cuba and the US....raul seems to be fairly solidly in charge. i like some of the things castro did - free education, free healthcare...i don't necessarily agree with ruling with absolute power, but if it works and the country remains fairly happy i guess its just another method...

Maybe we need to go invade Cuba and make sure they have an election!!! Seems to be our policy these day. Hell, it's way closer than Iraq. Our guys may even be able to simply swim there and keep transport costs down. Food for thought.

      Meh.
Brother Raul is even crazier, from what I've heard.
Free elections would cause a mess as bad as Haiti.

Didn't we try to kick him out in the 60s and essentially get thrown out by the people we were "saving"?

We should just arm the cubans in Miami and let them take there homeland back.

By law, the embargo stays in effect as long as the Castros are alive.

The best cigar makers left cuba long ago.
The only question for them is protecting their brands.

The current system works for Cuba and they love Castro. People seem to be quite happy in Cuba(at least, they have their dignity), so there's noıthing else to say.

That's not quite true according to this excerpt: Helms-Burton Act of 1996 Scroll down to Sec. 205, which discusses the conditions for lifting the economic sanctions against Cuba. But I don't think the conditions would ever be met even with Fidel's brother in power.
