Gas tank leak

Find where the leak is then run it to the point that the leak stops. Most auto parts sell a two part putty that will do the trick. It's in two parts but it comes in role like cookie dough. You cut off the amount you need then use a putty knife to combine the two parts. If the hole is small this stuff will work great. The down side will be if the van sat for a period of time and tank is rusting through. In that situation the whole thing will need to be replaced.

Yea... it's called J-B Weld.
One of the few things that gasoline won't eat through.
Just clean the area and mash it in the hole.
Then Fett can drag his ass on getting the tank replaced.
J-B Weld ain't comin' off.

I actually got down there and found the leak. It's a cracked rubber hose or the gasket. Even I can fix that because the lines are half way on the side of the tank.

Rick you were right, I have used it for this specific reason but forgot the name. Here Fett you can buy a case of it for good measure.

Different deal you got there now Fett.
I wouldn't use J-B weld on a hose or gasket, only holes in metal.
Anything made of rubber should be replaced.

Of course I'll replace the the rubber. I used to like to work on cars.

A trick I learned was find the leak,take a rag wipe it dry as best you can and rub a bar of soap across the hole several time until it stops.It will hold several days until you can fix it properly.Now the hose is a thing thats easy to fix.

It only dripped about 3 quarts. And that's a very good thing. I lost sleep. The trick is to have no more than a third of a tank full. That's as the price of gas keeps climbing. I'll fix it come Spring.
