These may be old news to some of you guys, but I figured I'd make a post about a couple of cool sites I've started using recently. Imeem & Veoh. They're both great alternatives to Youtube.
Imeem is set up to be kind of like a community where you can share your playlists, but you don't have to use it like that if you don't want to.
Some stuff is available without signing up, but I think you do need to join (free) for a lot of the content. From the reading I've done, they have legit deals with all the major labels in exchange for a share of the ad revenue. One big advantage over Youtube is that you can search for music only, so there are tons of tunes available that never had videos made, plus you don't have to weed through a bunch of asshats' Guitar Hero vids or pathetic cover attempts to find what you want, at least for now. It also may work out nicely as a free site for people who want to upload their own music. I played around with it yesterday for a while, and found tons & tons of great stuff, including some really obscure small label stuff.
Veoh is a pretty cool video site that has some stuff you can't find on Youtube or Google Video.
Like Imeem, a free membership is required to see more than a preview of some of the longer videos. They also offer a standalone player that searches other sites for content, and apparently has lots of other cool features:
I haven't had a whole lot of time to check it out, but it's pretty cool so far.
Anyway, just figured I'd post these two in case any of you hadn't checked them out. Please post links to other cool sites if you've got 'em!
