What a soap opera. You guys need to stop antagonizing each other so much. I've had sour words with several people on here, but as far as I'm concerned it's water under the bridge. Doesn't mean I won't tell someone straight up if I think they are FOS, but there should be no need to hold grudges against other long time board members. We should be united in beating up the noobs.

I think I understand why people are upset about the goodbye thread, but I don't get why people had issues with his posts. As pointed out by someone else, they were in the non-guitar section. Honestly, there's not always interesting guitar stuff posted and Fett was a big part of why I used to check this forum 10 times a day (recent posts have made me decide that this board is no longer good reading while at work). Fett was a fixture here and as far as I'm concerned brought something to this board. He gave it some character. He was an asset in my eyes, and deserves a little leeway.

The problem with having one thread dedicated to Fett is that it is not a clean way to track all his different posts. If we can agree that Fett needs his own area, and that a thread (which would have 100 pages in like 4 hours) is not the best way to do it, why not give him his own entire section?

Because this isn't the FETT forum, it's the JCF ..If he needs his own section then maybe it;s time he starts his own board ...

You have to realize that not everyone sees it this way. Yes, there are some that enjoy Fetts posts. There are some that tolerate them, and there are some that find them annoying. It takes work to run a board, and if one user is taking up 10% of the resources, is that fair to everyone else? Is that fair to the guys who run the board? This forum is first and foremost for discussion on Jackson/Charvel guitars and related issues. The off topic stuff is minimal, or I should say, was minimal, until Fett decided to adopt the board as his own personal random thought dumpster. It should be quality over quantity, and not the other way around. There's nothing wrong with off topic threads, but monopolizing a board to get your jollies is going overboard. As I've said before, it's pretty bad when some decent threads get bumped to page 2 because page 1 has 20 fett threads, some of which, to put it bluntly, are pure, mindless drivel.

See Josh, that's just it. Fett has had LOTS of leeway here, so much that he is shocked when someone tells him to rein it in.

I don't blame him for being upset about his PM being posted. My understanding is that the admins don't allow that. And the admins are who he should have brought it to - not post a goodbye thread over it. On the other hand, I don't know why he was sending such PMs either, so 6 of one, half-dozen of the other...

He just needs to chill out for however long he needs, and keep it betwen the lines from now on. It's really not that hard.

You have some good points there, but we've also had a JCF Ghost Town thread this week, so if half of his threads are funny or make some point, that's something. Meanwhile we criticize the members who say they don't post because they don't just want to say "nice guitar", but sad as it is, those drivel Fett threads are often the only thing happening.

No matter how many threads Fett posts, it doesn't stop us from postring threads of our own, and I'm as guilty as anybody of not doing that. But if we were posting more interesting topics and fett's didn't get responses, they'd just drop to page 3 before you knew it, and he'd probably post less thereby.

I really do think a lot of his stuff is motivated by coming here and seeing NOTHING happening, so he says "WTF! Here's my inane thought of the moment!"

I totally agree. And the threads about "losing water pressure by 2/3" and "Oh I bought some meat today and got a $1.13 discount" or some shit like that to "Oh, here's a picture of my dirty ass carpet" or whatever was getting rather redundant and plain stupid. I understand that it is the "Non Jackson/Charvel Related Talk" Forum but shit, don't abuse the system.
