I'm pretty sure they have to lug one out on stage at some point in time to maintain the endorsement deal.
I'm nobody famous by any means, but I've used my "cheap" Squire on stage many times.
Don't care what it says on the headstock as long as it plays and sounds good.
Franky was not cheap. Those guitar parts would cost around $700 today, give or take.
So a mid level $300-$800 guitar is the guitar to have then?

Yes. A 20+ year old guitar that was made well is the ticket. They all over the place for under $300. Squier, Charvel, Jackson or whatever. Those guitars are better made. Japan, Korea, USA, The pros know this. I figured this out years ago. And that is why I buy "Cheap Guitars" where you can have your cake and eat it too.
I GOT ONE OF THOSE 199$ STANDARD STRATS AND I LIKE ALMOST AS MICH AS MY BLUE BENGAL DK2M,USA rr1 RHOADS, MY CHARVEL MODEL SERIES, MY BC RICHES. IT DOES WHAT IT DOES AND ITS WORTH MORE THAN WHAT I PAID FOR IT TO ME. sorry bout the caps lol
What's the story about Squier anyways? Have they always been like the "cheap Fender", even in the 1980's?
For example in this vid, the guy plays a "Squier JazzBass JV '82 made in Japan". Was it a cheap bass back then too?
I own two Fenders "Squire Series" a 1994 and 95.. They are better than todays MIM strats and could with a little hardware change give USA strats a run for their money IMHO. I also own a "Squire By Fender" which again IMHO they are sometimes just as good as MIM.. Again this Deluxe model I have sounds nice and is a great feeling guitar.
