Oh yea, you gotta shoot shit loads of vaccine before going over there, and not drinking the water or any drink that has ice in it. But the locals are fine of course, we westerners are just hygiene freaks, everything is anti-bacterial and shit, that's why we can get so sick when going to exotic places. I mean if we'd swim in the sewer every day we'd be the healthiest fucks in the world

But of course booze helps too.
The whole film crew of African Queen got really sick when they shot it in Congo - specially Katharine Hepburn who only eat healthy food - except for drinking buddies Humphrey Bogart and John Huston, they were fine as hell. Their only nutrition was a lot of Scotch and canned food. Both were heavy drunks, the flies dropped dead when they tried to bite the almighty boozing duo

That being said I'm more worried about the bombs than getting sick in Laos. There's MILLIONS of bombs left from the Vietnam war era. I hope I'm lucky and wont step on one when I'm over there

Yep, South East Asia has those fantastic "water markets" and villages on the rivers which have always fascinated me. You know wherever I travel, I spend a lot of time going through all kinds of fishing villages and whatnot.
