Umm, yeah I guess a couple have. People seem fascinated by my nicely shorn scalp. The look on most people's faces was priceless I don't know why but it seems to have gained a bit of a shininess to it the last few days and I'm not even putting anything on it yet and I was still using my electric razor (I went out tonight and got one of those fancy 4 blade ones and some shaving gunk). I've gained "the feel"; I can immediately tell when there is a long patch just by rubbing my hand over my head. I think I might have to stick with this shaved head thing for a while. People are already done with the cancer jokes.

What do you guys think of this; my atheist Law 30 teacher got an angry call from one of his grade 9 student's parents because he was teaching about Evolution (Which happens to be in the curriculum for grade 9 history) and that he must immediately stop and teach only Creation Theory. He seemed really frustrated about it and he told me (Atheist) and my friend Steve (Atheist) but he wouldn't tell any other students. We asked him how it was going today in class but he said to ask him at lunch on Monday (I think he's afraid he'll insult one of the Christians in our class.). He jokingly said that next up the student's parent would call their Biology teacher because they're teaching Evolution in that class too. The dumbest thing about this whole mess is that he actually is teaching three or four different theories (Including Creation) but this parent is so crazy that they want him to just teach Creation. It would be tough to do that when he's teaching them stuff that's over 6000 years old. It's just ridiculous, I mean I have no problem with people who are religious (I have a lot of really religious friends and they don't mind my lack of faith) but I can't stand it when a person tries to force their values on others.:think:

what do I think... my opinion doesn't really matter as the culture in my continent is very different as those who are religious keep their beliefs to themselves... but anyway... why those parents send their kids to school to anyway? Pretty stupid people if you ask me, their kids have the right to know everything. Today's education system is based on facts and scientific theories. If they want their kids to know about the virgin birth and other crap they can tell it themselves (which I bet they already do) or go to church. The theology class or history class when the subject is judo-christian history covers all that. Fucking hate stupid people who shove their beliefs on their children's throat without giving them a change to decide for themselves.
I don't know how the education system works in Canada but when it comes to this matter the teachers over here can pretty much put those parents straight without fearing to loose their job.
But as you said, the evolution theory is in the curriculum so the teacher can freely say to those "parents" that "I'm doing my job, and doing it by the standards to have income to buy food and pay rent, if you have a problem with the official education program of this country then go complain about that to the education minister"
Just because some people are stupid and whine about everything doesn't mean you have to put up with their crap. A teacher should teach and not to be afraid of being "offensive" when he is doing his/her job by the book. When you let those people step on your head you are not a real teacher anymore, the education quality is the last thing that should suffer.

You're actually fairly accurate as to how our education system is, Endrik. He told us that he told the parent that he's just doing his job and if they don't want their child to learn that, they should have sent them to a Catholic School or the Christian School and not a public high school. He said he did his best to hold his composure but the parent started yelling and actually hung up on him after he said he was sorry that it was causing issue but it's part of the curriculum. He even asked my old history teacher (From last semester)and he said that in the 20 years he's been teaching history, that has never happened to him. My friend and I think that this parent might just be picking on him because he's openly Atheist (He told us that at the start of History in Grade 10 and he mentions it once in a while). Some other teachers heard about it and came in during break before Law class the other day and asked what was going on and they even agreed with us that this was completely out of hand and that these people had no right to complain and that they would back him up fully if it went far enough. I just don't understand that someone can get wrapped up in something so little that they not only yell, but hang up on someone they called.

This is one of those creepy parents that wave the flag of religion openly and vehemently, and can’t stand that all of us aren’t singing along like we should.

Then, when nobody is looking, he probably touches his kids inappropriately behind closed doors...

or has a kiddie porn collection on his hard drive.
