Oh, and Bill, can you recommend me some new melo-deathy bands like Wintersun or stuff that's like Ensiferum (Viking/Folk metally). I've really been digging the Vikingy stuff lately and am looking for some new material to listen to.

Oh, and of course, recommend some more super-awesome power metal bands if you want. You've been like 5 for 5 so far. Lately I've been checking out Blind Guardian and Sonata Arctica. I must say that I like them though there are ways they can improve. Such as getting Daniel Heiman on vocals because he makes anything pure gold. I guess one could say he's an alchemist of sorts. He could take bottom of the barrel, crap of the crap music and turn it into pure awesomeness just by adding a rediculously high note and adding a sweet quasi-spoken part ala "Sworn In The Metal Wind". I don't know why record companies don't just hire him permanently and give him a guest spot on every album they make because anything he sings in immediately becomes something that could go up for the award of "Greatest Song of All Time".

I was at my local music exchange shopping for any used metal I could find. I stumbled upon Korpiklaani's "Korven Kuningas" on Nuclear Blast. It was recommended to me by a fellow metalian that works there. We always discuss metal when we meet. In fact, there was a bunch of metal I pulled out of the cases for him to check into. So, this guy loves Korpiklaani , and I've been hearing about them but wrote them off as another Fintroll ripoff..well, that's not the case. It didn't make a good impression in the car on my way home..something about accordians in metal that makes me cringe. Later I indulged in some herbs and spices and got into more of a festive mood. So, I put it on again..and I loved it. It's different, but in a pretty cool way..and it took root. I actually like it better than Fintroll..which also had to grow on me. I like different styles of metal for different moods. I like power or prog metal such as Brainstorm, Lost Horizon, Rage, Grave Digger, Masterplan, Symphony X, Firewind, Mystic Prophesy, Pyramaze while I'm reading..or whatever. If I'm I'm just vegging alone with my thoughts or my pud..then Opeth, Ihsahn, Hardingrok.. ect is prolly playing

But I want you to check out is the latest Therion "Live Kabbalah" ..it comes with an fuggin' amazing live show DVD. I've hailed Therion for a very long time ..increasingly more and more through the years. My wife was never really sold on them maybe due to the opera vocals and chants. When we watched the DVD she was completely blown away. Its the only music DVD she ever ASKED to watch again..that says alot!! I would get that and their last "Gothic Kabbalah" ..start with the song "Tuna 1613"..man, I love that song!!

Ooh Korpiklaani... I remember that band. I just looked them up on Youtube and as soon as I heard Wooden Pints it just clicked... then I proceeded to laugh hysterically.

Oh, and Therion's awesome. I just checked out the title track for Gothic Kabbalah and it's exactly what I'm looking for.

That's awesome Ben!!!..Dude, they used to be like a black metal band back in the day. They just kept morphing into the phenom they are now. Truly a MUST HAVE IMO!! I figured I'd post this here ;

On account of all you jcf'ers ,

I have now purchased a small amp for in the living room (in the same corner as my computer, but more importantly (line6 spider jam 75w - I've brought in 1 guitar from rehearsel(sp?) garage(kelly ke3r translucent blue))
So now I can run through exercises ,scales or just noodle around
All while enjoying witty comments from all you fuckers
and talking shit.

PS Bill - I beat you to the post about titty fucking Vpilf (good taste though)
