Well, Billzy, religion HAS often been an excuse. But i don't think religion is the root cause, it's just a way to hijack people who are already indoctrinated. It's the nature of the human race that is the root of it all. If we had never had religion we would do the same fucking things. I don't think Genghis Khan gave a fuck about religion even if his tribe had one. Hitler used some religious symbology but one minute it was Christ and the next it was Odin. Stalin didn't need no stinkin' religion to starve 20 million of his own to use the money from the crops to buy weapons.
