Thing is, when these independent truckers start losing their businesses, houses, wives, LIVES, people are going to start acting on the idea. I would rather spend my life in prison for shooting an oil company fat cat than homeless on the street because I lost it all due to the price of fuel.

We've experienced recessions, but not depressions, in our lifetime - most of us, anyway. I know there are some folks old enough to remember the Great Depression, but not many are left. My parents remembered it well though, and my maternal grandfather died homeless and insane on the streets after losing his business to the Crash of 1929. People were jumping out of buildings because they'd lost everything.

We're a lot meaner now than we were back in 1929. If another Depression comes about because of oil company greed, a lot of people that lose everything are going to take somebody with them. A lot of people watched that smirking President of Shell Oil on the news telling people to just cut back on gas use. It only takes one to cap his smug ass.

In all honesty though I'm seriously suprised this hasen't happened yet. Its frustrating to read the news and see mall shootings and school shootings. Great, more innocent people (mostly children) getting hurt. Again if you aboslutaly must shoot somebody, hell can't you go after someone who could possiably deserve it. There was a time when this wouldn't fly, amazing how in our society we just won't stand up for anything that matters.

Another thing that bothers me and I like to see if anyone has the same thoughts on this is the media. Firstly they'll do stories about how gas could reach $4 a gallon. Its almost like a cushion, they prepare us so when it actually happens we are not pissed, we are prepared.
Secondly I hate reading these stories like gas in the UK is such a such $ a gallon. Recently I read that gas was up to $5 in Hawaii. Well thats not apples to apples, its a fucking island how far can they possiably drive. It seems to me what the world dosen't realize is that one of our states here in the US is the size of most countries. I beleive we drive much further and more often then most of the world. Rant over just pisses me off.

Anyway I don't do any unessicary driving and I still fill up every other day. I work in a differnt state then which I live and I have band practice in another state then those two. Work is 75 miles from home. I live where I live because it was much more affordable then by work. I can't make the same money working by home so I'm screwed. I'm forced to spend $500 a month in gas. Sorry I know I said rant over........I'm done, I promise.

where it also going to hit is flying. i heard a couple airlines folded this week (Aloha & someother). there are going to be less flight available, less destinations, crowed planes and more cost to fly.

tourist places like Disney, Las Vegas and other resort places are going to feel it. this summer there will be less people driving out of state when the $4.00 hits.

maybe, just maybe the goverment may to a real look. they have had meetings for the last few years already, but they have not had any results just like with the tabbaco people. time for a motorcycle/scooter i guess.

I've said it time and time again. You want the prices to drop? Put the CEO's home addresses on the news. Tell everybody where their kids go to school. It won't take many incidents to make the "supply and demand" situation to magically balance out.
please don't put it into words, 'cause I fear what you're thinking
