  • Do I suck at Google, or what?

    Search experts, help me...

I found this forum from a reference from another site.
It was because I was looking for info on the Model 88 Charvel.
Whenever I Googled it, I came up with about one or two results,
yet when I came on board here, it was a fairly familiar subject.

    SO...here's my problem.
I'm busy working on this old amp for fett, and looking for info,
and I come up with zero...except a half dead Magnatone website that seems to exist solely to sell some schematics, but is essentially dead.

Here's what I am trying to look up:
    Magna Varsity 108
    Magna Electronics Company
    Inglewood, CA.

I'm looking for a schematic, or info.
And here's why...some of the resistors have drifted a good 20% or more off value, and one looks way too new. The design is similar to a Fender Princeton 5E2, or a Champ 5F1, but not the same by any means. I need the original values. So I'm not looking for specific amp advice, I can make it work, but I'd like to know what was supposed to be in there.

There is a dude on thefenderforum that sounds just like you. Maybe you should ask him!

I have what looks to be a good schematic. PM me your email address.

      Thanks, TT.
I'm going by what I see, but this amp has a design all it's own.
Simple, sure, but unique all the same. I can't imagine how they got
away with it without having a ton of noise. There's only three
filter caps in the whole scheme. Everything else is wires, resistors,
and coupling caps. The Champ isn't a whole lot more complicated,
but that layout isolated the noise, giving a certain capacitance
just by the way the layout is. (Look up "Lead Dress", people, more
      amp alchemy).

        Sheesh.
No wonder I couldn't get anything on Schematic Heaven.
The site moved, I thought it was shut down.
        Found it!

I think that's also where I found it. It was one of the first things on Google.
