One is not worse than the other. Each one has its twisted sub-faction. I'm sure you can find Buddhists that do the same thing. Lord knows you can find Muslims that think it's a-ok to kill not only themselves, but others in the process.

Any time you introduce an ideal to Mankind, there's going to be someone there to corrupt it for their own sick pleasure.

God and Christ have nothing to do with it other than bearing the insult of having their names applied to it, but I guarantee there are just as many sickos out there claiming Mohammed told them to do it, or Buddha said it was ok, or Shiva gave her blessing, etc etc etc.

What we call statatory rape here, many cultures call marriage. How many cultures in the jungles of the world marry young women? Its all relative to what your culture thinks is the norm. I wouldnt condemn christianity as many of you have because of the nut jobs in this compound. How many kids in africa would have died if it wasnt for a christian man named James Robison? How many kids in NYC would never know what love is or be in jail, if not for a man named Bill Wilson? Im sorry but condemning christianity because of a nut jobs twisting of scripture is wrong. Are the authorities in Texas going soft? I thought they set fire to religious compounds and had a gun battle when they wanted to nick someone for having dodgy beliefs.

But they've been there for a hundred years, or so the article implied. And the posts above are correct; girls used to be married by age 14 or 15, and a lot of times it was purely for political gains so the age difference could be very large. Just because lawmaker's "morals" have decided that 18 is the magic number for making your own decisions, does that mean we should throw these guys in jail? I'm assuming that there was no abuse in this case, e.g. beating, rape, etc.

Should we take Amish children away from their parents because they get whipped if they misbehave, or because they're not allowed to drive cars? There would be a huge outcry because the Amish are a recognized religion. What makes this case any different?

Personally, I find marrying a 15 year-old more than a little strange, but that's solely based on my culture, where things like that are looked down upon. When did it become the government's job to force moral values down our throats?

As a Catholic, I find your view extremely ignorant and crude. I poke fun at my religion because it does have funny things, but why such a low blow? It's not built around having sex and abusing underage children. So what if a handful of them are bad? Welcome to the world. No one group is perfect. I could say atheist are a bunch of church burning miscreants, but that would be unfair because a few choose to act that way.

Hes just pissed off at the lack of punishment towards people who rape little kids. We have become so desensitized that we cant dish out a swift and harsh punishment. Counseling doesnt work. Its becoming an epidemic.


Another point is I think all you anti religionists should be calling for the banning and abolishment of public schools too. There seems to be an epidemic of the same behavior going on there too..
