At the risk of sounding "alarmist", let's not forget that the entire oil-based economy is one large uncontrolled experiment. There is no evidence whatsoever that a society can survive longer than 100 years or so with a strong dependency on oil. There is no guarantee that the energy and climate crisises can be solved in time, and in fact they probably can't. People seem to lose sight of that. Instead, they believe they are entitled to have all of these problems neatly solved for them by politicians without making personal sacrifices of any kind.

gas stations charge the extra amount that you see the next day, because their cost will be higher when they get their tanks filled on the next delivery. they have to deplete thier tanks before you see a drop in price at their pumps, or they lose money selling gas to you at a lower rate than they paid for.
LOL, we'll all be riding them little scooters around soon,,we won't be able to heat our homes cause it'll cost way to much which is happing now for some. This is the goverments reponsibilty to change this. They knew long ago that we needed more mass transportaion and they sit on their fat asses and did nothing but spend our tax money on themselfs.
If they really wanted to conserve gas they could mandate new speed limits. They could change their fleets they drive into smaller cars then what they drive now. They could stop all the travleing they do with our money and use their own and see if they go anywhere. Rant Rant Rant!!! Whats the use people, they could care less about you and I.

I started driving 10 miles under the speed limit. It really saves a ton of gas but really irritates those guys in the big one ton pickups. They act like they are going to die if they can't get somewhere a minute or two sooner and whats funny is when they pass me i'll usually end up right behind them at a redlight miles on down the road.
Yeah, and their the first ones to bitch when gas goes up. I love how people pass me on the E-way. I drive a little S-10 and drive 55 or 60 and they go by me like I'm stopped. :ROTF:

Im usually a leadfoot... I dont drive recklessly, but I usually do 5-10 over the limit (except residential obviously) and usually get there pretty quick... not so much any more. My 1992 Chevy k1500 350 usually gets around 10mpg with my normal driving... Ive calmed down alot, and it seems to be doing better. Trying not to let the r's come up over 2k seems to do the trick. I would get a more economical vehicle, but I do construction/remodeling so I NEED a truck at all times... and with gas going through the roof and be barely making the monthly bills, economy cars prices are going way up. Catch 22 if I ever did done saw one!
Imagine, being able to be magically whisked away to... Delaware. Hi... Im in... Delaware...

That is so true. No matter which way you go, your had. And in your work you need a truck for sure.

I don't get it. Are you saying that the limits should or should not be reduced?
Actually it doesn't matter what they do. If they would start writing tickets to people that drive 85 in a 70 zone they would start slowing down on their own. And besides that you know your self Michigan needs the money.

Yeah my problem is that I come from the racing world. I think tickets should only be given to people who are driving recklessly. I'm a trained racing driver and can safely drive 85 or even 100+.
There is a big difference between going 85 while staying in one lane and going 85 down the Lodge weaving through traffic, never signalling at all like I see almost every day. One ought be left alone while the other ought have their license revoked immediately and permanently before they kill somebody.
