the oil companies are all posting record profits and we are all taking it in the ass.
I blame us. This is what we should do...stop buying giant gas guzzling vehicles, if you have one.. sell it and buy a car that gets 30+ miles per gallon, don't take needless trips, be smart regarding how you burn your gas and the 1st chance you get the chance to buy an alternate fuel car... hydrogen, electric etc... do it. If we all conserved instead of complained we wouldn't be in this mess.
I find it funny listening to my neighbor complain about gas prices when he drives a Ford Excursion that gets 9mpg and he doesn't pull, plow, offroad or tow anything. His wife uses it to go back an forth to work. He also has a 390hp Cobra SVT.
I see more and more 2 person families (that means no kids) driving around in giant gas guzzling SUV's because they are "good in the snow". Well.. I got news for them.. for the last several years we have had a few decent snow storms where the road was snow covered for about 5 hours until the plows came. I haven't needed 4 wheel drive in any of my cars in over 20 years. As long as we drive our giant cars and our giant boats and we continue to deny ourselves anything.. gas prices will continue to rise and the oil companies will continue to post record profits. I have 2 cars. Both get 30+ mpg. I also take the train back and forth to work. It forces me to walk almost 3 miles a day in all kinds of weather but I refuse to keep dumping gas into my cars and making myself a hypocrit.

Stuff like ethanol is not the answer either. That is making prices shoot through the roof as well.
But these oil companies are not just "squeaking by". They are making record profits and the top cats are getting filthy rich. Why can't they take it in the shorts a bit too? Why does it always come down on the consumer that HAS to drive to work. Sure they don't have to drive an SUV but they do have to drive. Forcing them to foot the bill while the CEO's are getting stupid rich doesn't make sense to me.I'm angry because you're stupid

Treaty of Versaille? Please. I've been a WWI & II buff since I was in grade school. It created a few new nations, it sure made the Germans a bitter bunch, and was one of the chief gripes leading to the rise of Fascism (or National Socialism), and ultimately resulting in the annexation of Austria (Sudetenland), and eventually WWII. Any more questions?
BTW - would it be safe to say that you speak Gaelic, Cornish, & Welsh & Irish quite fluently, eh?
Quicky Mart... Hmmm... Nope. Again, you show your ignorance, along with the fact you know SO MUCH about me. Let's see...
Breakfast: black coffee and an orange Tomorrow I'll have a bagel I think.
Lunch: 2 slices of whole wheat with peanut butter, milk, and another orange
Supper: Pork chops & scalloped potatoes. I might have a nice pumpkin ale later...
I ride my bike to and from work when the weather is decent (usually from May until November), and ride about 100-150 miles each week after work (that's about 160-240 km if you're wondering). I hunt pheasant thru the fall and ski patrol all winter. But Quicky Mart? Nope - other than an occasional bottle of coke and maybe a bag of peanuts.
BTW - Not "yore".
"YOU'RE".
