That video kills me. I laugh my ass off every time I think of him dancing. Good stuff.

Odd isn't it. Hell, you'd think gas prices would be lower in Louisiana and Texas with all of our refineries, but that's not the case.

What they do here is make the ethanol blend cheaper, that way people will buy it and "increase demand" bullshit.

Not a fan of ethanol. They need to spend that money on another alternative fuel because this one pollutes as much as oil.

I'm not a big global warming guy either. I feel that if it's true, we are probably already fucked.

But let's face facts here - GW as seen as the "biggest oilman" of them all, and the price of oil has been blamed on this administration since the day he came into power. Quite frankly, I'm sick of it. There are FAR more forces at work than him at driving these costs. No question in my mind.

I'm not a Republican FWIW. I vote where it makes sense to me. But unfortunately the drumming of conspiracy and hatred has been going on since 2000, and hasn't let up. Our nation is politically paralyzed. Pretty fucked up. But too many refuse to take off the rose colored glasses and see the truth - and I'm NOT saying you're one of them.
Chris, i do know there are more things involved in the price of gas/oil. However, this presidents foreign and domestic policies (destablizing the mideast, and, with his "economic" policies, making the dollar pretty much worthless) played a major part. Id say its 60/40. And that 40% isnt dumbyas fault.

Whats the solution? Suck it up and pay, or get a car that gets good gas mileage. And that will never happen. Americans as a whole are waaay too stupid for that.

P.S. the only reason you see bushco saber rattling about iran? Has ZERO to do with their "nu cu ler" program.
Its a complete catastrophe. But Im a professional, I can rise above it. LOL

                • oil hit $115 a barrel. How much more?

I read somewhere that the gas with 10% ethanol is less efficient than pure gas. They said you get 20% less milage and I believe it. The place I get gas from has the 10% stuff and I do get worse milage than with the other stuff. Conspiracy??? I smell one.

I can agree with this. Case in point:

I had a 1995 Nissan HB pickup. 2.4L 4 cyl, but it was a 4x4 truck. Should have easily gotten @20mpg. I had the 4x2 version of the same truck and got almost 30mpg.

Anyway, I bought the damn thing. In MN, it's mandated at LEAST 10% ethanol in all gas here. My truck would never get better than about 8-12 mpg in town, and 14-17 mpg on the road. Pretty pathetic for a 4-cyl. I had it in the shop at least a 1/2 dozen times trying to figure out the piss-poor performance. I probably spent around $2000 in "tune-up" and performance tweaking costs. They finally said "that's just the way it is. There's nothing wrong with this vehicle - it just gets bad mileage because it's a 4x4 (not full-time) and it's heavier, slightly underpowered, blah, blah, blah..." So I sucked it up and drove it.

I drove out to central SD to my brother's wedding. I coasted into town on fumes and gassed up. I noticed it was lower octane fuel (87 regular), and was non-ethanol. I drove home a day later - I got 22 mpg!!! Turns out the engine wasn't designed to run optimally with ethanol. Go figure. But that's a pretty good jump in performance thanks to the LACK of ethanol in the gas. To this day, I still want to move to South Dakota - especially with the taxes sky-rocketing in Minnesota. It's ridonkulous...

I have a friend that has a flex-fuel vehicle that can run E-85. He fuels up, and while it costs about 20% less than regular 10% ethanol gas, his mileage dropped 35%!!! HOLY SHIT!!! What's the point? The only reason it's cheaper is to get people to buy it - eventually the subsidies will expire, and ethanol fuels will actually be more expensive per gallon than gas. Cool, huh?

MN has legislation that requires 20% ethanol by 2010 I believe. I can hardly wait for that... It's really amounting to 'farmer welfare' as ethanol is HIGHLY subsidized in MN. Nice...

                    • The thing about ethanol is it that it was never meant to get you better gas mileage.
It was designed to reduce the emissions coming out of the pipe.
E85 gas will reduce your gas mileage by roughly 20% to 25%. This is according to some real world tests posted in USA Today a few moths ago.
The Iowa Corn Growers E85 web site says 5% to 15%, but then again, they have a HUGE stake in the game.
And last time I checked, it still costs more per gallon (if you can even find it) than gasoline does.

But as stated above) everyone seems to overlook the environmental impact it causes to create the shit in the first place.

All the politicians are focusing on the finished product and be damned if anyone ever told the public about the hazards of producing the shit in the first place.

It ain't simple "supply and demand," if that's what you're insinuating. These mysterious "speculators" are completely disassociated from the oil producers and petroleum manufacturers? No, I don't think so.
