We had a station a few weeks back who was selling gas @ $4.50 a gallon. He said the margains were so low and his cost so high he simply could not afford the deliveries anymore. Apparently when his tanks got to a certain level delivery was automatic and they debit his account for the delivery. He stated that the last fillup drained his account down too $300 ... he would be bankrupt on the next run so he jacked his prices up to prevent people from using his station ..

My cousin just filled her oil tank for her house..the bill came to over $2200!!!

Time to go back to burning wood and coal!

I doubt highway speeds will be reduced again like they were in the 1970's, but reduced speed does improve mileage. If I drive 80 mph in a 70 mph zone, I'm turning 2300 rpm. At that rate, I'm getting about 13.5-14.5 mpg. If I keep my Suburban at approximately 2000-2150 rpm, I'm running about 72 mph and getting between 16.5 and 18 mph. The best mileage I've gotten was 19.6 running between 65 and 70 mph.

Thats true kinda. I mean if we did that how long would it take to deplete that resourse thou. We needed a goverment that done something about it a long time ago. My dad says that back in the 70's they were told of this and did nothing. Ass holes!

LOL, I heard a Greenpeace or some other crackpot commercial on the radio that says for every mile per hour we do over 55, we lose 1% in milage. That would only be true if every car out there has the same gear ratio rear end, tranny and engine. The 55 speed limit saved gas but that was back in the 70's when most cars didn't have an overdrive gear and vehicles were larger. Most newer vehicles most efficient speed is well into the 60's now.

OPEC has already been paid. You're just fucking over the guy who's lucky if he's making $0.05/gallon but who loses $4+/gallon when you steal from him. Congrats jackass.

I drive a '04 4 cyl xle Camry that gets great gas mileage these days and just moved to the southside of the city instead of my peaceful 13 acres... to be closer to work and because the gas crunch is getting out of hand. I no longer spend almost 2 hours driving to or from work.... down to 45 mins tops.
