Thanks for the link. When I first heard the news, I figured it was the New Madrid Fault, but that's not the case.

The article said it happened in the Illinois Basin-Ozark Dome region.

Ok. Just read it. That fault system borders the New Madrid fault.

Felt it this morning in Chicago....hell, I moved here last year from Cali in part to get away from these damn things. Pretty mild though, if that's the worst this place gets then I'm cool with that.

It went again at about 10. At only 5.2 or w/e, it was more of just a nuisance than anything else. First earthquake of my life. woot

I felt an adter shock a little after ten this morning. It felt like someone running through my apt. Nothin major. Just a little shakin goin on. If the house is a rockin dont bother knockin.. come on in. cus im probably trapped under something and cant get up.. There was a mild quack here back in the 70s 72.73 i think. not sure what it was on the richter scale but it was mild also. So just felt a bit of shakin.

They said the aftershock was at 10:15 but I didn't feel it all. Here is a link to the update on the 5.2 quake and the 4.5 aftershock.

I used to live in Central Illinois, and I can recall two times where we had tremors. They were only a few seconds but very intense. If I remember right those two instances happened about 8 or 9 years apart.

Of course we've had soaking rain all day so I guess flooding could be a problem now.

I felt the aftershock more than the initial shock, although the fact that I was half asleep the first time might have had something to do with that.
