What is...£24 million they're in debt or something? They spent a fortubne on their own budget line og guitars that didn't sell well or something and were loosing a fortune through internet sales and stuff.

I was in SC in Glasgow last week having a scout about and happened to notice a member of staff at the front desk on jobsearch.com. I felt bad but found it amusing at the same time.

I'm no fan of SC. Their sales tactic, from my dealings with them, was buy before. Also, in Glasgow they don's seem to know jack about what they sell.

Conversation with a young, straggly haired sales guy:

"....It's got a 2 point locking trem..."

" dude....thats a bigsby!"

"is it?"

*points to big shiny embossed Bigsby logo on the tail*

Maybe he was on work experience.

That's quite sad, there uses to be some ace folk that worked in that branch that knew gear to almost obsessive levels, On a recent trawl round Glasgow's guitar shops that seems to be something that is sadly lacking (although Merchant city music are not bad!)

I'll agree with that. It's only in the last year or so i noticed new faces and customer service slipping in Sound Control. That is the one on Jamaica St, not the west end one. The guitar shop talent in Glasgow ain't what it used to be. I get most of my gear from Merchant City and Strungout, where i got my first Charvel.

I hear an obscure rumor the other day about Thomann buying over the company....

Would be a welcome idea if they did. I wonder if all SC's stock would still go back to their suppliers or be fulfilled. I also wonder if they'd also take over liability for all the customers who've been ripped off.

The stock they've not paid for will go back to the distributors I would imagine, leaving you the punter to have it out with them over any money, equipment owing.

I'm also told that if there is an auction of any paid for stock, that a large number of retail chains and privately owned shops have been asking for it to be kept trade only. We'll see what happens, however if there is a public auction I bet every Joe and his donkey will be there bidding up the prices to almost retail prices. Also remember there'll be no warranty or returns on any of the items.

Don't expect money back from sold premises as they only owned 2 of their sites, the rest were leased.

Too right! Did you not get a letter from the Administrators? You need to get your claim in writing to them NOW, they can add it to the list of the firm's liabilities. Though the chance of getting anything back is slim, if people don't know or bother to claim, what does get divided up will have less people grabbing at it. Make sure you are one with his hand out!

Got a letter from Deloitte shortly after the announcement, just got a 20 page essay from them this week. Can't be bothered to read it now. It's just a big fobbing off bs report. I'm going to Leicester tuesday next week.
