  • I'm going to Kansas city

In Missouri, any of you people out that way , what should I expect ?
I've been in Miami most of my life so I'm trying to prepare myself for culture shock!

Miami has become a Banana Republic or as we say the smallest 3rd world country in the world.

Only wished my lay over in Atalanta was longer to catch up with old friends there.

I lived in St. Louis for many years and KC is much more laid back.

My wife's aunt lives there and we've been back a few times to visit.
Nice and quiet compared to Miami.

They are still a bit redneck there, but nice people in general.

EDIT: And yes, they do speak English, but the accent can be a bit confusing.
I still give my family in St. Louis shit for it when they say things like "Yous guys".
Or they try and pronounce the number four. :ROTF:

Dude, I live in Topeka, KS, about 70 miles to the west. Drop me a line when you get settled and maybe we can hook up and jam.

K.C. is a great town, I get down there for work every now and then. Saw Alice in Chains recently at a very cool club in K.C. called the Uptown or something like that. K.C. has great food, decent cultural scene (home of the national WW1 museum, etc), and stable economy. The only thing that bothers me a little is that there is a very large "focus on the family" evangelical Christian population. Nice enough people, but not very open to alternative religions.

Now if you get very far outside of the city, then yes things start to get a little weird...in a redneck sort of way. Which actually is no big deal as long as you enjoy guns, beer, and 4WD pick up trucks.

Do yourself a favor and hit the Musicians Friend outlet just outside of KC, all sorts of deals to be had!! I'm about 2 1/2 hours from there.
