Ian literally looked like they pulled him from the retirement home to do the tour when I saw them last year. I felt bad for him. He tried his best but you could tell he was not happy with his performance. The only people that thought he was great were so high it could have been me singing and they'd have loved it!

As a singer, Gillan has improved his performance, even if his voice is but of a shell of its former self. He actually sings the lyrics now with a great deal of interpretation, rather than imitating an air-raid siren.
I agree that Coverdale's voice might have held up slightly better, but it's painful when he tries his upper register.
I'm a big fan of DP with Morse, and I think they've gone into interesting new territory. If all you want to hear is "Made in Japan", then put on the CD at home...
As to UFO, I enjoyed the studio stuff I've heard with Vinnie, but obviously it's never going to be the same exact thing as what Mogg/Schenker/Way were doing 30 years ago. The worst thing about the current UFO is that they don't seem as musically adventurous as latter-day Purple, which only invites comparisons with their younger selves. UFO always was the more "meat and potatos" of the two bands.

Olie_rocks must have caught an off-day, plenty of bands have them! I too think the Classic UFO line-up is unbeatable, but Vinne Moore did an admirable job when I saw them. He certainly didn't stomp all over the tunes with some incompatible personality, and he didn't just appear to be just a hired hand. Somewhere in between, which was good, they acted like a band who were happy with each other.
Strangest thing was that Phil Mogg kept calling Vinnie a kid and a youngster! He is, to the rest of the band, of course, but he is hardly a fresh-faced kiddie. He makes me look young!!
The thing is, I was expecting something completely different when I went to see UFO with their new guitarist. I thought it would be shite, how could some poof in pink spandex and makeup possibly fit in with UFO?????? They must have been mental to hire him!!
I hadn't been paying attention, of course, and was under the impression UFO's new guitarist was Vinnie Vincent. So I woke up,rolled over and who was lying next to me? Only Bonnie Langford!
I nearly broke her back
