My taxes went to replace a stolen TV, and replacing my catalytic converter. Maybe I'll do something nice and American when I get my state return.

I didn't qualify either, made almost zilch on the farm cuz of the shitty cattle prices and high fuel/fertilizer costs, pisses me off to no end,

The fun part of this is that most parents won't get the credit for the college students because the kids are too old - even though they can be claimed as dependents on a tax return the student is too old be a qualifying child.

Mine was used to pay down one of my student loans.
Don't forget the corn. It's nutritious, delicious, and ribbed for her pleasure.

Haven't gotten ours yet, but it should be $1200. I believe the plan right now is to put it towards the house, whether that's paying down the principal or making improvements, I don't know.

Anyone else do their own taxes this year? It took a few weeks of pondering the instructions and making sure I filled out the necessary schedules, but I don't understand why any one would have someone else do their taxes for them. The only really confusing part was Schedule D, since I'm not that well-versed on investment jargon.

The way things are going I'm a little hesitant to deposit the stimulus check in case it bounces

I'll lay off my tirade against this stupid "stimulus" check, but the BEST thing EVERY ONE OF US can do is pay down ANY debt we have. Our check is going right to one of our car loans.

If you pay off/down existing debt, you are not doing what the government wants you to do with the check. They want you to go to Wal-Mart and buy that PS3. Not pay off student loans or that 3rd mortgage. Buy the Chinese crap. That's what you are supposed to do with it.

900 Billion dollar war and tax cuts and stimulus checks? Sound strange to anyone else?

Mine is going to pay off the feds. I won't even see a dime of it. But I guess in a strange way I'm glad the government is paying my bill for me. Still doesn't make sense to me but whatever, the bill gets paid.
                    I'm angry because you're stupid

It looks like I won't be getting mine until July since the last two digits of my Social Security number starts with a 9. Oh, well, at least I'm getting one. I'll probably pay off a credit card or use it for my homeowner's insurance bill that will be coming in August.

It would sound strange to me if not for the fact that it's election season, which means a plethora of stupid tacticts to distract people from the issues pol's are afraid to address

I'm not sure that the election season has anything to do with it. Bush has pushed his tax cuts his whole 2 administrations. He wants to be known as the president who put money back in your pocket. Whatever the cost.

The way I look at it it's more of a "payoff" for 8 years of the worst presidency in American History.

Not a bad way to look at it... except to be fair to the citizens He still owes about 50K per person for suffering & it should come directly from his familiy's oil money
