I'm all for exploration, but I wonder how many billions of dollars was spent on this project when it should have been used to build new refineries. That is unless we're gonna drill for oil on Mars.

Not to pee on the politcal comedy, but my guess is this was planned and funded way before the current oil panic started. The sad part is the US is no longer what we were in science, partially due to the deterioration of the space program. The research for space exploration has driven many commercial innovations that we all benefit from. I am all for this stuff. I think we need something positive to work for and on to drive the next generation of people to get involved in science.

Of course I am biased because I am an engineerd that designed components for a satellite. :-)
