Hey, wasn't it our good 'ole Redneck Pres that said he wanted to land astronauts on Mars? Let me look. Here it is, straight from the horses mouth.

Lots of Bullshit in there. Shit, tons of it. Go ahead, read it. See what I mean? Where is the Crew Exploration Vehicle that's due to roll out in 2008? Anyone heard anything about that? The replacement for the Space Shuttle? That's just one fine piece of bullshit this "president" has spewed at us.

I have no problem with spending money on this kind of venture. I'm all for it. Sadly, the "president" is not.

NASA is a jobs program for rocket scientists. Its useless to find signs of life on mars when you are killing and allowing millions to die here everyday. What a waste.

    Cool!

Not to pee on the politcal comedy, but my guess is this was planned and funded way before the current oil panic started. The sad part is the US is no longer what we were in science, partially due to the deterioration of the space program. The research for space exploration has driven many commercial innovations that we all benefit from. I am all for this stuff. I think we need something positive to work for and on to drive the next generation of people to get involved in science.

Of course I am biased because I am an engineerd that designed components for a satellite. :-)

Geeks FTW! I always get a kick out of watching those guys celebrate. Good to see they had somebody do the metric conversions right this time.

Or you could ask whether the $1 - $3 trillion (depending on who's counting) we & our children will be paying for the Iraq mess could've been spent just a tad more wisely, like on alternative energy research as one crazy example.

I'm all for exploration, but I wonder how many billions of dollars was spent on this project when it should have been used to build new refineries. That is unless we're gonna drill for oil on Mars.
