Diesel used to be cheaper than regular gas here. Now it is more expensive than premium. Trucking companies are closing up shop because fuel is so expensive.

"The American Trucking Association has said escalating fuel prices are decimating the industry, and that in the first quarter of this year 935 trucking companies, each with a minimum of five trucks, went out of business. The association said it was the largest number of failures since the third quarter of 2001."

I think were screwed with any of the 3 choices we have.

Personally I believe that anyone who is qualified to handle the job well is also smart enough not to want anything to do with it.

I've had enouogh coffee today to end up in a sensless rant so I'll avoid getting into what I think their issues are, but if you break it down to the most basic elements none of the 3 are very different from each other.

One has basically no valid experience to handle the position & questionable ambitions. One has questionable experience but too much personal ambition & the 3rd is probably the most "presidential" candidate we've had in since the 80's but that guy is practicaly in his 80's himself. I have a feeling only one of the three wants the job for what they think they can do for the counrty nearly as much as they want to feed thier ego's.

I thought the video was funny when I saw it this morning but after awhile it honestly made me sad & angry. It's a damn shame to see how far this process is falling. This shit is turning a very important process into a Jerry Springer marathon.

One question I've asked myself a few times recently:

Since Hillary & Obama have completely neglected thier duties as Senators for the last year or so... Hillary neglecting them pretty much since being elected why the hell have they not been replaced? Why the hell do they still draw a salary for thier position? If a Senator or other elected official wants to run for a different position they should resign from thier current job no? If any of us stopped showing up to work for a year for any reason how long would it be before we were replaced?

One disclaimer I should make is I've absolutely hated the clintons since they escaped from Arkansas so I'm sure whatever I say is biased ... But seriously... They were caught trying to steal paintings out of the whitehouse when they moved out. That is an awesome display of character if none of the other crap catches your attention. Towels might accidentially find thier way into a suitcase but paintings that were hanging on the wall for decades ? & people want to let them back in?

Thats fills my quota for political posts for 2008

I don't think it's quite fair to say that McCain is just 4 more years of Bush. The GOP has been distancing itself from W for quite awhile. It is true that no candidate will succeed in breaking the deathgrip of the oil and medical industries on our wallets, though.

I don't disagree with you, but McCain is a Senator too, so you should include him in that thought, no? I heard Jesse Ventura on the radio a few weeks ago making that same point. He went on a rant about how when he ran for gov. on MN, he was up against a state senator and a mayor who were both being paid by his taxes while they took time off to run against him. He went on to say that if these three clowns running for president were so great & indispensible at their jobs and running on their stellar records, how can they all basically take 2 years off without anyone batting an eye? It's an oversimplification, since they've all been getting back & casting votes, but still a pretty interesting point.

You are 100% correct. A natural oversight on my part due to a Republican upbringing

Since we're all busy agreeing with each other, Bengal, you nailed this one.
McCain isn't just a tempest in a teapot, he can get mad enough to make one wonder about his sanity. He scares me.

And to BillZ...be careful about giving over your liberty for what you think might be a government solution to healthcare! Yes, the costs have gone skyrocketing...but I can promise any federal agnecy will make it far worse!
Look what they have done with Social Security...I could have had my money and just put it into measly CD's, I'd be way ahead of the paltry offering I might end up with. I certainly don't put my retirement in their hands, and I still get raped on my paycheck for it. Just one of many examples of governmental foolishness. They have no incentive to give a shit, either.

You had a real chance for a change with Ron Paul.

Just like with Perot, America blew it.

Now it's the lesser of evils, and frankly, it's McCain....

Seriously, there is no way Obama is a viable candidate, and Clinton OMFG

Not a big fan of Lil Bush AT ALL, and McCain is enough anti-bush to work I guess.

I just hope he supports a controlled pullout of Iraqistan and can see past the lobbyists far enough to get some manufacturing back in America. No high hopes, but there it is.

                    flame on.

4 more years of this stuff?
We can't afford to go just 2 mores years let alone 4.

The next president will be fucked no matter what he or she does. It will be like Jimmy Carter all over again.

I don't know if I'll even cast a vote for president this year... they all suck

                          Manufacturing in America...
A funny thing happened due to the sinking dollar.
Our company is purchasing much more from US suppliers, than foriegn
than we were previously. Keeping those jobs at home, but at what cost?

Wassup Cygs. My dollars have sunk. You're really up on all this stuff. Listening to that stuff on TV makes me dizzy..its kinda depressing..which makes me feel like we're in a depression.

My wife and I always did well since we've been together. This is bad as it ever been for us. We're holding..but I seem to remember better times when I made $6 an hour in 1987. We always went out to eat, shopping, driving around..doing stuff. We can't afford that now. We reserve a day (today) to do something. Me and my son have free burrito coupons.. Then he wants to buy a metal shirt (hot topic) with his birthday money from October. That will cost me $15 in gas..about the cost of the shirt...that's the plan.
