If they're not dangerous why would anyone run away? Unless they're like me and the very sight or even thought of a big spider makes me cry.
lol - exactly. When I lived in Tucson, we lived right next to a 'wash' (that's a dry river for you non-deserty people). We'd get those fuggers in the house on a regular basis. I kinda liked having them around - no roaches. Unfortunately, the unending ear-piercing screaming emanating from the wife made it impossible to watch football, sleep, or practice. So I kept around the bug spray that comes out like a stream (for wasps and bees). Didn't even have to get up out of the chair, lol! Made the wife feel better knowing she could kill them from 15 feet away....

Why do I still want MORE?

I would shit myself if I saw a spider that big. Well, there's one advantage of living in Blighty.

Yup, that's a Wolfie alright. Hogna Carolinensis by the looks of it. I did quite a bit of reading on them when I found mine. He looks pretty big Sully. How long would you say he is from spinarets to fangs?

Joe, they have 8 eyes. 4 big ones on the top, and 4 little ones at the front. Pretty cool eh?

I had to let mine go outside. We had a cold spell, and I couldn't find anything for him to eat, so I figured I'd rather let him go than have him starve to death.

your picture made it look MASSIVE!!

I'll kill the highly venomous ones around here, particularly if they've set themselves up somewhere the kids are likely to stumble across them. So Redbacks & Black Widows are cactus in my house.

The non-dangerous ones are left alone as long as they leave us alone. If they want to get too friendly, they just get relocated out to the garden.

You guys ever see Huntsman spiders where you are? They're common over here, and according to wiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Huntsman_spider) the breed found in Laos can have legspans of 10 inches!!

That's awesome. Mine was a little smaller, but still really cool. They do look very much like tarantulas and the like due to their body shape. These are all "true spiders". Apparently, many of the things we call spiders, aren't actually spiders.
