I know I'm late to the party here, but I've been a little distratcted. I do however what to have my say so you all get to listen!
I've seen the transformation in Karyn and it's been amazing. To watch someone take control of her life as she has is a wonderful thing. It's not been without its ups and downs. She's had to be a bit selfish here and there to be able to take care of herself. But if you don't take care of yourself no one will, and you won't be around to take care of those close to you in the long run. I've people try to make what's going on with her be about them. I've seen people try to be upset with her on behalf of her family - which I find extremely amusing knowing Karyn's family and having talked with them.
I have the opportunity to chat with Karyn regularly and have to say that her doing this, taking control of her life and being who she really is, is the best thing she could do for her and her family. She's happy with who she is, which in turn makes her happy overall. Her outlook has changed and it shows. She now has a happy family, one that relates better now than ever.
And yet, through it all, she's the same friend that I've now had for years. And other than being happier and more comfortable, the person hasn't really changed, just the packaging.
It's pretty much a win-win situation, Karyn gets to be who she really is, and I get a new girlfriend that I can teach lots of cool girl things too!
