Rich I don't know why you like to push my buttons but I did not say anything hostile towards you or anyone. Honestly it feels like you're looking for trouble now because you're pointing your finger directly at me. All I asked was for specific issues but you are either unwilling or simply cannot back up your claims. How hard is it to point out specifics in the thread... your argument is weak ..

I'm tired of this whole go round now .. what's sad is that I'll end up having to move this thread and the intended purpose is now lost. People who haven't been around are going to wonder why the name "Karyn" is on the forum instead of Kevin and what the deal is ..

All I can say is that I'm disspointed that this thread not only turned into this but ended up with me being personally attacked for not defending "christians"

Prove to the board that you exist. Forget about God, how can you even show us that you exist?

There comes a point at which we must all draw a line and decide to believe some things, because nothing of substance can be deductively proven. If you really think an old book is more likely to be right than years of rational thought and experiment, then I say you have drawn your line in the wrong place.

It's rational thought and experiment to you because you want to believe in it, Troy. Can you personally verify those thoughts and experiments, or are you taking them on faith?

What would Jesus do if someone challenged his beliefs? Turn the other cheek, treat it as a test from god, rock out to some Stryper. Too often, discussing ideas leads to offended religious types. It's far too easy to get a rise out of christians, so the specific consideration you guys want is never going to be enough to protect your... feelings. Well I know you do Troy..and it is marvelous. Rich is a good guy. He's has very strong convictions. Having such convictions is what gives someone strength. Not just on faith..but across the board in their lives. I can relate to that. Sure religion and politics make for interesting conversation, especially during these times. Many families, friends are prolly discussing the same things as we speak. But, in effort keep the original intent of this thread of a very good person is also important to her as well as me...and to us!!

So, I respectfully request to take your passionate views to another thread. That's all.

Of course I may come by to shave my balls..if I'm not busy at home..actually shaving my balls.

..Bengal, I'm the same guy. To be honest , I used to vent more about the small stuff when everything was going better in my life. My wife is going to be a cripple eventually. If that's not bad enough..so am I, part of me already is...including my mind.:ROTF:

But these are the cards I'm delt. I can't ask for a better hand. I have to be strong enough to take care of my biz. Years of pondering such things ..well, it makes the petty stuff all the more pettier. Why complain, it won't fix anything. Why bicker with GOOD people with different views or lifestyles if it doesn't personally affect your existence. We all want to be as happy as we can be, true friends want that for each other no matter what they believe in..to me, that is the meaning of a good person. I've prolly know more than anyone here what trully BAD humans are, how they are wired, what they do to themselves and others without concern. None of us apply to that...or I would be the first one to let you know it.

Here's the thing, Troy - I'm not here to prove my beliefs to you or push them onto you.

My point was to point out a fact - that Christians are going to oppose gay marriage because it conflicts with a core belief about marriage.

So if you use a different term - civil union - you MIGHT have a better chance of getting past the logjam and getting that enacted in the long run. Just a thought.

Obviously that's not how it was taken, and it turned into something else, because "Christian" is such a red-flag word to many here.

We disagree in our beliefs and we aren't going to convince each other. But I came into this thread supporting ~K~ on her choice, and then later came in trying to suggest a compromise on the issue of gay marriage to provide the benefits gays seek without running head-on into the objections that Christians will have with the word.

Not bragging or smirking about the Christian majority - just saying, "this is what is; if you're trying to deal, deal with what is".

If neither side is wiling to reach out at all, this is going to be a longer and more painful process than it has to be. That's not going to be good for anyone.
